I'd be prepared to be offended, then. Irem seems rather confined to Japan these days, and Broderbund left the software business a long time ago. Who does Nintendo license the rights from? And why would they think consumers would care? |

In a perfect world, we would've had a remake of or a sequal to Guardian Legend.
Irem/Compile, please bless the world with such a game once again! |
Carnivol, check out Super Star Force for the Famicom. This is as close to The Guardian Legend as you will get. |

the question that remains is how much more than a dollar do they think they can get people to pay for a ROM |

The Guardian Legend could, though. The password system sucks and the shooting levels flicker horribly.
It's still one of my favorite NES games. Sigma Star Saga would've turned out so much better if it had copied TGL more closely instead of just swiping the general idea. |

If you haven't already, you should try Guardic for the MSX. It's the prequel to The Guardian Legend. Don't get the wrong idea, Guardic is nothing like TGL, but if nothing else, it'll make TGL mean more since you'll be able to catch little references to the prequel. |

TGL had a prequal? TGL had very little story, so I'm kinda curious as what references are in the other game? |

You know, I think I might just possibly sell me (since it was announced that Turbo/PCE CD2 would be available) is the Choaniki games. Pain in the butt to find those, boy howdy. |

There is no story in Guardic. Well there's probably something, but it's inconsequential. It's just a shooter. |

TGL borrows a lot of music and enemy designs from Guardic, those are the references I was talking about. |

Thanks for the info. I was kinda curious, b/c the entire story of Guardian Legend is about one paragraph of text. |

Hmm, so apparently hard drives are a reality. Is a hackable, ROM-loading Revolution possible? |

I don't really like the sound of that. Do they mean that a game you already downloaded may only be available on your console for a limited time then it gets erased? |

Yes, it's called "subscription model." |

I guess that wont really apply to the backwards compatibility, but then again, I see how they "could" get it to go like that. (Console subscription "play any NES game for $10 a month and any snes for $15 monthly")
But haven't they said the "virtual console" would be usable for other stuff than just old classic gaming, but also for stuff like specific games made for download?
The possibilities are so many, both for what they can do and how they will charge and present things. |

If they're doing that sort of model, then forget it. No overglorified emulator needs to be on a subscription basis. It's exactly why I didn't buy into the whole GameTap dealio. |
