i need a phpbb hack that prevents the first post from being edited or something.
and yeah, i'm a little bashful regarding the old site. it's kinda sad to talk about considering what it looks like and how it reads now. i think it was way way up there in the alexa rankings though, higher than 5k, and i know at one point i was SA's top referer. ah, the olden days.
edit: and yah, smeg, i actually only saw the comedy edit made to the first post, not the one untouched.. but that was good enough. |

I just thought this topic has derailed badly, and was going nowhere.
Anyway, screens are up! So feel free to delete.
(and yeah, I did watermark them, discretly. Since I was asked to make sure everyone knew where they came from, so they could get more info. Valid reason methinks. ) |

I really don't give a fuck actually.
I'll snap pictures from magazines and put them online, and I don't care if others use those images and don't give me credit.
All that matters to me, is that the MAXIMUM amount of gamers see something interesting.
example, here ya go. an early preview from 1991 of an early or beta version of Lunar for the MegaCD that is different in many ways from the final game. it's from EGM.
now spread this fucker around, everywhere, all you want ^__^ |

Man I remember seeing that way back when after I played the game and thinking it was weird. Luna with brown hair, what a trip. Looks like the cutscenes are pretty much the only difference though. |

there are a number of differences that people with a lot of knowledge on Lunar have pointed out. such as black dragon, you don't fight him on an open plane, but down underground in his dungeon
here are the comments
GhaleonOne on Lunar-Net.com ~ lunarthreads.com forum:

Definately different. The 1st, 3rd and 4th have different artwork for Alex and Luna in the introduction than the final game did. The 5th picture is the Black Dragon, which was faught way underground at the bottom of his lair, not out in open land (perhaps they originally planned to have the Black Dragon still terrorizing the great plain at Pao as part of the Dyne/Ghaleon legend instead of having it sealed in it's cave).
The 6th and 7th might be normal pictures, but I don't really know. And the final one I've never seen. That looks like the temple area in Quark's cave, but it's completely different in layout. And are those things giant treasure chests?
The 2nd picture also looks like one of the boss fights that shouldn't have been out in the open like that, but I don't remember for certain. |
Kizyr on Lunar-Net.com ~ lunarthreads.com forum:

I recognize where the last screenshot is supposed to be; it's the Silver Spire. Lemme just respond to all of it...
1) The first and fourth screens, Luna had distinctly blue hair, not brown. There's actually quite a bit of artwork which show Luna with brown hair; this more solidly proves that her hair color was changed later on.
It might've been due to wanting to make blue hair a defining feature of goddesses. That wasn't entirely implemented (EB Lucia yes, but not Lucia from DS), but it could have been a thought at the time.
2) The third screen is of a monster you fight either in the Grindery, or Althena's Tower. It's not supposed to be outside, but a lot of early screenshots like this are made by piecing together stuff from testing or putting together sprites and backgrounds to get some photos out, since it's so early in development.
3) The first screen on the second row, same thing. It's the Black Dragon and the fight is underground. Likely the same deal as the other battle screenshot.
4) The other three screens on the bottom row are the same as they'd be in the final version. The one on the bottom-right is from the top room in the Silver Spire, in Vane. It's where you pick up the Mirror of Althena. |

If I read this article, I'd picture Frank Cifaldi turning over a table and setting it on fire.
I win! |

You should watermark that new image, someone might steal it.
I like how you became "increasingly hostile" in just the first reply to the thread. |

I like how he quoted a post I made on my own web forums and passed it off as if he had interviewed me, that he didn't bother telling me I was being quoted, and that he conveniently chopped out the entire middle section of that quote and reformatted it to read the way he wanted it to.
That's some solid journalism, there. |

Look I know you're angry and hostile but you seriously need to tone down the malevolence here. Wishing evil and harm upon others is not cool.
Also I just realized who this guy is. Hilarious! |

Yeah, unfortunately the article made it sound like you became unexpectedly, randomly hostile, like some 3rd-rate Al Pacino.
Or worse yet, Richard Dreyfuss. |

Crazy.
Anyways, I have nothing but good things to say about Retro Gamer Magazine. They did an article on Star Fox 2 one time, and they not only asked my permission to use the box scan which I heavily photoshopped, but gave full credit and a link to my website. I do get angry when large websites take images off my site without permission (*cough wikipedia*), but I would never compromise the quality of my site with watermarks. The people that matter know where the stuff came from anyways. |
