Ya know, I have a GRATE way to fix 90% of the security flaws in WindowsXP.

Use Opera.

See, most of the bugs in XP come from Internet Exploder. The less you use IE, the less susceptible you are to most of these bugs. A scant few can come crawling through IE without you using the program (and there's no way to uninstall the bitch if it came pre-loaded!) but on a whole, your attack threat level greatly decreases if you quit using Micro$#!+'s browser.

I'd much rather use Mozilla than that piece of crap called Opera.

I like Mozilla Firebird quite a bit better than Opera.. Opera may have speed, but it wastes a lot of space towards the top that drives me nuts.

Firebird also has sweet plugins :)

I like Mozilla a lot too, but don't really use it because of two very annoying things:

One, I can't use my download manager [Netants] with it. It's a good program, and it annoys me to have to start IE and paste some addresses just to be able to leech stuff from a site.

Two, and this is the most important thing, for some reason it completely DRAINS my system resources! I use it from time to time, and close it normally. But the program remains in memory, taking up 92% of my CPU usage, for no fucking reason at all. I have to go into the processes viewer and shut it down from there.

I may hate IE for its bugginess and bugs/security flaws/memory leaks, find Mozilla a good alternative even if its very limited, and Opera is a piece of crap... IE is the lesser evil of the three. So I'm stuck with it.

*cries*

1) You know Mozilla and Mozilla Firebird are two different things, right? I assume yeah.

2) Get a process viewer and kill the undead process. :P I can't survive on win98 without one.

I know that Firebird isn't the same as vanilla Mozilla [hah :P].

I tried it and it felt unresponsive. I dunno. It didn't feel right.

I had the same problem, but I was determined to stop using IE. After a week or so it felt fine, and with all the plugins now, I like it even better.
