Aw, I could have taken you to dive bars next week, I'm there on business.
I'll need more specifics, like where you're staying and what your transportation options are (aka, do you have a car?). |

It is all still pretty preliminary and will probably involve a good amount of winging it, but we are renting a car and will probably stay in Vegas for a couple of nights, unless Josh loses all of our money. |

Well, then. As much as we locals may personally despise it, you should probably spend a night wandering the strip, if you haven't been to it yet. Give yourself a budget, and just improvise. Blow $20 on a blackjack table, get a few shots at a casino bar, and then walk outside to further adventure. You could make an entire night of just walking through casinos, as I often did in my youth!
If you've got a car, I definitely recommend the Pinball Hall of Fame, on Tropicana and Pecos. He's got 100+ pinball machines, and maybe 20-30 old arcade games. The same shopping center also has a $2 movie theater, a bar, and a comic book shop. And I mean, come on, what more do you want?
If you like beer, the Freakin' Frog was my personal haunt practically from the day it opened to the day I left Vegas behind me. Live music every night, but between you and me you want to go in Friday night and hear stride pianist Seth "Fingers" Flynn Barkan belt his week's frustrations out. http://www.freakinfrog.com/
Other than that, I don't know man, I don't know what you and your friends like to do. Red Rock is a surprisingly pretty mountain, if you want to do some minor hiking. Little Darlings is the recommended non-drinking strip club. If you want a posh sort of "old Vegas" place to sit and chill with a big fancy drink, fireplace, and LCD displays, I really really like the Peppermill. They have a big fancy drink called the Scorpion that's like three large slurpees mixed with something like five different forms of liquor, and it's crazy cheap and awesome (like $13?) http://www.peppermilllasvegas.com/
Is that good? Anything else in mind? |

Cool. I already made sure everyone understood that we are going to the Pinball Hall of Fame Museum, because pinball. |

I've never been, nor do I know anyone who has. I think it's in the Hard Rock, though, which in itself is worth a visit. If they happen to have a good band playing during a night you're in town, go see a show there! They've got a good venue, and a good night life. |

I've been to the Pink Taco, it is in the Hard Rock (which is kinda nice, but I don't know about special, though you are a music guy, and I liked playing cards there better than anywhere else I think), but I don't know that the Pink Taco was anything special either, run on sentence. Worth going to? Yeah. Keep in mind that the Hard Rock isn't on the strip, too (aka, you have to drive there). |

The hatred you guys have for the "Strip" is nothing to the revulsion us guys have for Times Square. And you'd never see a New Yorker eating at the Hard Rock Cafe here. |

The Hard Rock Cafe and the Hard Rock Casino are separate businesses in Las Vegas. Locals don't go to the cafe, ever, but the casino is pretty nice. |

I have two friends living in Vegas now, and they tell me that there is a lot more to Vegas than the Strip, just that it is so huge and famous it overshadows all else.
I would love to see the Liberace Museum if i ever popped by.
I am sure you would accompany me, incognito, of course. |
