HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA I REMEMBER THAT!!

Most manga don't have prototypes anyway. Only real "prototype manga" I can think of was the earliest version of Berserk, which was just an incredible early version of the same story the creator did while he was in college, which I think was an assignment. That shit warmech posted was clearly really horribly done doujin that probably didn't even originate from Japan.

And despite this and other arguements, he still believed that piece of shit was legit.

I'm actually very sad and dissappointed that any section of wiki actually uses that site as a credible source.

Um, from what I see, that's someone named "treeman" who at no point indicates he is "Warmech", who apparently stumbled across the linked Warmech page and misread it.

So......

Final Fantasy Extreme? Would it be profitable to release a 2-D game on a PC that late (after FFVII PC)?

Probably, FF had a cult following even before FFVII. I was in that cult thanks to FF2SNES

I know I would have probably picked it up. While I hate FFV's story and half the music, I fricking LOVE the Job System.

I'd say the lack of profit is what kinda killed the project.

I mean, FFVII (PC) was released mid-98, and if I remember correctly, the PC FFV was started around that time to surfe the wave of FFVII PC (or something like that), and I for some reason recall hearing words that it wouldn't even be a proper release, but an online order/download thingy or something...

And well, I refuse the final game would've been big, so it could've probably easily have been spread out + anyone with internet at that time and a little interest in Final Fantasy would've probably caught the word in late 98 that RPGe released a full translation for FFV (SFC) and that snes emulation actually had started to reach a 'playable' level around then.

I know this is a year old, but I want to clear this up.

Treeman and Marcelo X (from WarMECH's Domain) are all the same person.

The Final Fantasy VI PC Screenshot is NOT REAL, I wrote that on the picture itself and that quote of me is a misquote. I thought they were asking me about the Final Fantasy V PC Screenshot. I emailed the guy to correct it, yet he never did. The FF6PC shot was added as a placeholder for the awards section of my site. What trips me out is that the picture itself states that it's not real, yet nobody seems to be able to read it.

The Final Fantasy V PC interview is 100% real, I managed to find one person that worked on the project and he had the other two contact me (which I verified their names from a staff list I had.) The screenshots are real. The top clear screenshot is also from the PC version, taken by the guy who was programming the mode-7ish effect of the airship flight.

About the comic book image. I actually believe it is not real, but just in case I'm wrong, I left it on the site with a caption at the bottom stating that I don't know if it's real or not.

The site is not a joke site and it would be damn near retarded to make up shit and post it on a serious Final Fantasy site. Anybody that thinks the interview is fake is dead wrong and if you choose to not believe me, then don't. Those with a brain will have learned a little bit about a lost port of Final Fantasy V.

Listen to Carnivol, he seems to be the one that's on the ball the most.

I remember reading about FF Extreme for the PC back in the day, and was pretty crestfallen when I heard the project was cancelled.

Then like, a month later I discovered emulation and RPGe's fan translation and I promptly forgot all about the "official" port's existance.

As an aside I've been playing the fuck out of the GBA port. The storyline was lacking, but I think FFV may have been overall the most fun game to simply sit down and play.
