The Mushroom Kingdom, on the elusive SMB2 prototype.

http://www.themushroomkingdom.net/smb2_proto.shtml

That's awesome, even if we probably won't see the ROM.

Is there a specific reason why the whoreder is keeping it to his lonesome?

I imagine the horder is proud that he was able to snatch it off e-bay, cause those things are pulled frequently before the sale can go thru. It was pretty nice of the guy to give us lots of info anyhow. Many horders don't even give that much. That's why we got no new pictures of Resident evil 1.5 even tho it's out there.

Well, the guy is probably like most of us self-respecting capitalists and wants to preserve his monies by keeping the dump for himself before he sells it to another greedy loser wanting a conversation piece.

I'm with you on that one, I remember the first time I saw that commercial, I wanted SMB2 so bad I saved my allowance for 6 months to buy SMB2.

Thanks for the link KingMike, I really appreciate it.

The "whoreder" is a really nice and generous guy who doesn't owe you a fucking thing. If this is the kind of attitude you're going to take toward people you don't know, I'll invite you to take your ignorance somewhere else, please.

You got me, man. I don't know shit. I consider myself to be like the frog on the totem pole compared to you eagles and bears. But as long as you're being such a great host and inviting me to travel with my expansive ignorance, I'll completely submit to your wisdom and social networking expertise to learn me a little bit about the "nice and generous guy" who owes me nothing -- which I prefer people to owe me anyway.

Hell, we all could know more about nice and generous people.

In short, sorry for coming across as inconsiderate, but where's the proof to your statement?

Would it be best that I curb my curiosity to save myself from infamous mod hellfire, or do I get a little feedback? Wink

In closing, I'm flexible.

On the other hand I think it's quite possible that it isn't he that is selfish, it could be republicas who is the selfish one. Wanting something he didn't fork over a single dollar for. Using your logic that means movie companies should be paying US to watch their movie. I still contend that he was generous in giving us the info he gave us. It sounds like it covers most bases and it satisfies my curiosity about the beta.

Dude, I got enough games to play that I don't need another game to open up in an emulator and go, "Huh... That's interesting," and close.

Honestly my sarcastic and cynical nature is misunderstood in this sarcastic and cynical board. I guess I'll just be super sweet and nice from now on to be understood.

I humbly apologize for for my confrontational nature. Wink

But yeah, it would be kind of cool to eventually play that SMB2 prototype, but I'm not jonesing or anything for it.

I agree. I'm alone grateful for the fact that the owner decided to share with us screenshots of the cart and levels, rather than store it somewhere where nobody, except himself, knows of its existence.

I sometimes ask myself what is the thrill, other than legal issues, in storing rarities somewhere without at least sharing pictures or info on the net.

Now of course, a ROM dump would always be nice! Wink

*cough*

I'm more referring to the part that says "This disc is serialized and electronically fingerprinted. Do not copy or distribute".

Generally, if you value your sources you may not want to get them fired.

With nintendo, you're talking about a company who invents chastity belts for their consoles so reviewers don't make a copy of the beta games...

Basically, in this case, if you have some random asshole spouting ignorant gibberish about a prospective acquisition of a first-party prototype, and you have a mob of neo-fascist preservationalist trolls backing him up on the public forum, the chances of a public release of such prototype would be slim to none; now wouldn't they?

I thought a gamer like you could respect the game that is Capitalism.

I disapprove of your counterculture, sir.
