It was never given directly to him. He obtained it after the leak, just like everyone else.
There's really no use in pointing fingers anymore, it's not gonna change what's already happened. |

i remember that if u used a certain action replay code for mario land on the game boy you could start on any level u like (up and beyond the regular levels) it would give you invalid and random glitch levels just like this prototype does.
Just a coincidence or that mean they were programmed in similar ways? |

Is it just me or is level 1-F (Press A 16x on the title screen) a completely layed out, but scrapped level? I can't really recall any level like it (could be wrong) but it's damn near complete. If you walk all the way to the right, and use the genie lamp and go down the vase, it will warp you to 4-1. if you just go in the door, and work your way upwards, you can reach another door that lets you take a carpet ride over and finally you will meet a birdo that spits fire and eggs but no bird head to exit through. if you kill birdo and walk away and come back, he will be there again.
EDIT - here's a quick video I made of the level. |

Wierd, I don't recall ever playing that level, either.
Also, if you press A 18 times you get to play the game with some colors changed a little bit, and no title screens between levels. |

Hey, that's pretty cool.
There actually is a gate in that hidden level, but it's designed so it's impossible to get to. If you're using Luigi, you can super jump off of Birdo when it hops after firing a set of eggs, and sometimes you'll make it over the wall. There's a gate on the other side, but there's another wall preventing you from entering it:

Ah, wait, I think that area is just a glitched out level 5-3. I was able to make it to the gate by riding on one of the little flying guys with the spears. Inside there you fight a glitchy Clawgrip. Beating it takes you to 5-3, which has the same layout as 1-F, except the vertical area actually has walls and a floor, and there's no wall blocking the gate after Birdo. |

It's not as cool as I thought. After tinkering around some more - I ended up on the same exact level but it was night time. After killing myself to see the unglitched level marker, it was 5-3. I quit and played through to 5-3 and sure enough the level is the same, except for the warp takes you to 7 (instead of 4) and after you go through the 2nd doorway, the levels not glitched out, so theres a floor and you have to go down a few times then work your way back up.
The walls aren't in the way during the birdo battle either, and going through that door takes you to the level 5 boss, which is a crab who throws rocks.
I still don't remember this level, but then again, I think I always warped past level 5. Oh well.
EDIT - Damn, you beat me to it. |

Bah, you beat me to it. 5-3, no doubt. It's the only level I ever used anyone bedsides the princess on because I used Luigi to jump up to the warp pipe to 7.
Interesting that it's 1-F
5-3 is the 15th level, F=15. Hmmm.

1:30 and before is definately in the game, a little bit messed up. 1:30-2:10. 2:10 and after is almost same as a level in the game also. Except for those logs blocking you from reaching the entrance. |

I forget how many times you have to press A (I tried everything up through 100 - lots of free time at work) but one of them is 5-3 again but the underworlds are green, and the overworlds are snow/ice. It's slightly different than the video I posted in layout as well.
There's also an interesting level (Marker says it's 4-lamp) where the entire floor is quicksand. |
