Didn't we used to have a topic about this thing? I can't find it.
Anyway, I was listening to some old episodes of Retronauts and one of the guys actually mentions having played the thing at E3 '98. It's in episode 11 at 45:50. I had always assumed a playable version never existed.
I think both sets of screenshots that are mentioned are here. |

This is one game I'd like to see released, along with Hard Drivin' for the NES. I remember reading about the Game.Com's ambitious drive (which failed) and SotN was a title for it. I'm guessing that the first few levels were made for it and not much more. |

I have it on very good authority that there is a rolling demo, but the game was never playable. It was one of the games they were still working on when tiger pulled the plug.
Same source says Metal Gear was playable...
Both are probably sitting in a landfill in korea where all the game.com games were made... |

It's probably for the best. This is the same system that ran at a whopping 4 frames per second (on Sinistar from Williams Arcade Classics) |

Like many of the games, the it's all hype but no delivery. I recall seeing screen shots of the Sonic game they offered(Sonic Jam?) They actually ripped some graphics for an ad from Sonic 3D Jam and simply converted them to black and white. I also recall seeing an RE2 movie that contained music and everything unlike the final version.
The system wasn't really terrible besides the fact that any digitized sounds would cause the system to practical come to a stand-still... |

Same here. You could probably buy the whole system with all games for under $100. |

I've never bothered to take a game.com online, but a friend did back in the day. If i remember correctly you had to tether the game.com to your computer via serial cable in order to go online. Kinda defeats the purpose. |

I have always wondered if a Game.com would be any more playable on a TV. I say it would. So who do I have to pay to make a freakazoid converter for me?

I'm curious how you'd implement the touch screen? You have to punch a TV really hard before it has any real effect... |

Yeah, only Provinciano fell off the map, and his is Game.com-TV adapter is VGA only.
Who is this Mash? I've certainly heard the name. Does he have a site? Mashmods.com doesn't look like it. It looks like one of those crappy ad sites.
How to do the touch screen? Oh, I dunno, look down and touch it?

Yeah, but you have to look at the screen to touch it, so what do you have the TV for? |

I don't look at my keyboard and mouse when I clickety click away on them + on the DS, I play stuff like Metroid Prime without even having a single look at the bottom screen.
I see no problem with just turning the unit itself into a wacom with controllers on the sides. |

Well, like the DS, many games don't make use of the touchscreen, or use it sparingly. Oh yeah, and you do like to SEE the games you're playing, right? TV might make Game.com almost cool.
Besides, you can bet developers don't make games for any handhelds looking at a tiny screen all day. They do it on a monitor.
