Do you know of any specifics? Where were the demos/betas were obtained? I probably should have been a bit more specific in my questions, but bleh.

What would be better is if you just listed what games you were interested in from this event. I mean, a lot was shown.

A few years ago one Echo Delta (N64) was sold on eBay. The owner does not plan on dumping it, nor selling it - but he said that the person he bought it from dumped it already - it hasn't been released publicly (or privately to my knowledge)

That's the thing though...I'm interested in any and ALL games from this event.

For reference, here are all the games that were showcased at the event. I think these are all of them, anyway... -

Cartridge Games

* Extreme-G 2 (Acclaim Japan)
* Revolt [RC-Revolt] (Acclaim Japan)
* Virtual Pro-Wrestling 2 (Asmik)

* Tonic Trouble (Ubi Soft)

64DD Games

* Sim City 64 (Nintendo)
* Talent Studio [Mario Artist: Talent Maker] (Nintendo)
* Paint Studio [Mario Artist & Camera] (Nintendo)
* F-Zero X Expansion Set (Nintendo)
* Japan Pro Golf Tour 64 (Nintendo)
* Gendai Daisenryaku Ultimate Ward (Nintendo)
* Kyojin no Doshin 1 [Doshin the Giant] (Nintendo)
* Yousuke Ide's Mahjong (Nintendo)

What I'm really interested in is where the games were found. I know this information does not rarely come with a good Prototype or demo...but I still am hoping I'll may be able to find out.

So now that that's been mentioned, did you have info on this Echo Delta game? Who was selling it, etc?

Oh I get it, you're trying to figure out how to find Mother 3.

Someone somehow got four N64DD dev disks.

They eventually managed to get a system that could boot them.
Two of the disks were SimCity 64 and one of the Mario Artist games. The other two were unbootable.

Yeah, you got me. I am very interested in the whereabouts of Mother 3, though I am not directly asking about it.

Simply stated, any and all demos or prototypes from this event interest me. Information concerning one game could potentially help find info on others, and so on. I am, per se, on a scavenger hunt for any information about this event.

I'm not sure where the games ended up. The kind of questions I ask myself are pretty much... Did each respective company take their games with them? Or did they all just get bundled up and put in some storage facility? If the games are so hard to come by, which ones have been found? By who? When? Would it be possible to find more?

There were so many great games shown at that event, and being able to even find the tiniest bit of information on any of them would be great - Not just Mother 3.

But to be fair, Mother 3 is pretty much the holy grail of protos. So this IS about Mother 3.

Not exactly true, mate. I know that pretty much no one knows that much information concerning the fate of the game. Despite the wealth of information we have about it, ranging from more that 80+ screen shots, videos of the game in action, the blue disks which could possibly have data, interviews with creators, heck, even three or so music tracks from the game...even with all this, we have no idea where we would have to begin to look.

The thing that frustrates me and most others the most...is that there were a minimum of nine demo (and possibly many more) cartridges showcased at the event. Yet after almost ten years we have no leaks, even for such a game in demand.

So, if were to try to gain any new information about M3, we should think about the other games shown as well. As I stated previously, any information on the fate of the other 40+ games could very well lead to more and more answers about Mother 3. So, let's take our focus off of Mother 3, and try to focus on the other games for a moment...please?

Echo Delta was leaked, even though the masses don't have it yet. How did someone get a hold of it? Who was selling it on Ebay, and who was the winning bidder? If any other games that were at the event have a similar fate, we should be asking all the same questions.

Here's the thread from back when Echo Delta was up for auction. It's got a link to the buyer's website.

You can look at how Nintendo operates to answer some of your questions. Knowing them, they took all of their toys back to home base. They're pretty anal about that. Nintendo stuff went back to nintendo, acclaim stuff went back to acclaim, etc..

Second, N64 dev carts were stupidly expensive and frequently overwritten. It's entirely likely that the carts were taken back and blanked out. They were way too expensive to use for archival. If you're looking for unreleased N64 games, your best bet is on old backup tapes. The hard drives and servers that archived the files are probably long dead by now.

Somehow i think the N64 is one of those systems where games that are "lost" will remain lost forever. As hard drives fail and are wiped, the chances of there being a copy *anywhere* become slim. Honestly, if you need to clear some space on a server why would you keep a 12 year old rom of a game your company decided wasn't economically feasible to release?

Honestly, and since Mother 3 was more or less the same as the released GBA game, I'd rather have Socks the Cat instead. =P

I think that DreamTR has a prototype of Socks the Cat. You could ask him to dump it (with a bit of "green" persuasion).

DreamTR is pretty easy-going about getting his protos dumped, as long as you are willing to buy them off of him for the amount he asks. Very Happy

He's usually pretty reasonable with his prices too, at least for some non unreleased protos I bought once.

Jason (DreamTR) does have Socks, for SNES. He's a great guy, he would dump / sell most of what he has for proper compensation. When I asked him, he said he would not dump Socks, though.

=(

He agreed not to with the programmer(?) he got it from, said programmer being undecided if he himself wants to just put it out there.
