Stand in line But yeah being a first/second-party Nintendo proto it's not that easy to get. And when I say not that easy I mean it probably doesn't exist out of Japan and probably even out of either Nintendo and private collectors.
To get your hopes up, I found a japanese guy who has a ポケモンスタジアム (Pokemon Stadium 1) proto, so that might or might not lead to other Pokemon protos. It's a pretty weird find, considering it's N64, and Pokemon.
Well in any case if I ever get my hands on any Pokemon proto it's probably gonna make its way out. |

Here's a site I put together awhile back. Contains a bunch of info about the SpaceWorld 1997 Demo of Pocket Monster 2. A few first hand accounts of the demo & other info about the game from that time.
Not a pretty site, was mainly used to just store the info in one place for me

You know, I'll be damned -- I haven't thought about this in years, but there's a little Japanese book of Game Boy games that I wound up teaching myself kata and/or hiragana with a good 11 years ago, and it opens with a 5-page preview of the Super Game Boy version of Pocket Monsters 2.
Most of the screenshots are the same as the ones on the link you listed, but there are a couple of others too with a "Pocket Monsters 2" SGB border and a couple of casino-ish games, and there's a decent amount of text about the game, too. I only ever took a year of actual Japanese classes, so there's not too much of it that I could translate by myself, plus I only ever played a little Pokemon Blue, so I have no idea what the differences would be versus the released versions. I probably wouldn't be the best person to ask to scour the text of this thing. I could probably be talked into AAGGGGGGHH EFFORT scanning the pages if anyone wants. |

That would be awesome It'd be cool to see what other stuff about this early version is out there. I've got a few friends from college whom are pretty fluent in Japanese & could help translating. Would it be ok with you if I hosted the scans on my site as well? You'd get full credit of course Thank you! |

Hey, no skin off my back if people post it -- it's not mine anyhow, it's (looks up the publisher) 実業之日本社's. I played some of Blue, but Pokemon's not really my cup of tea, so I don't really even care about credit. I'm due to scan some ridiculous crap from a new SkyMall soon, so I can get these pages in there while I'm at it.
Fascinating little book, it has a complete list of all of the Japanese Game Boy releases from 1989 to 1998 with screenshots. I was surprised at the time to see that the Game Boy got versions of Lolo and Populous in Japan. |

It seems like a shame that there were Pokemon that were never released. I want that red fire Pikachu.
celebi23: Thanks, that page was awesome! It had a lot of stuff I've never seen before.
I am Christina Aguilera: I would love to see the book, if you find the time please scan it. |

No problem. Might clean up that site a bit.
The first hand accounts of the demo (4 of them) are pretty cool. Looks like there were a ton of Pokémon that got the boot around the time the game was delayed in March of '98 (it's original release date btw) |

I herd u liek pre-release mudkips
I dunno how people post stuff without webspace these days. Hence, Rapidshare. It says that the zip can only be downloaded 10 times, so, er, have at it. If anyone cares to repost, resize, whatever, 'sall yours. |

mediafire is a bit more reliable for this kind of thing, and I don't think there's ever been any file download limit (number of downloads per file or per user) |

Celebi -- yep, that's the cover, '98 edition with Goemon and the Tamagotchi girl.
Dais, thanks for that -- the Rapidshare 10-download limit sounded pretty ridiculous.
Oh, FYI, it's not so much a magazine as a smallish encyclopedia book.
P.S. Seeing this username posted elsewhere just cracks me up more |

Thank you again Damn. GameFreak got really close to their March '98 release date. From what I've been able to infer, looks like Nintendo wanted them to delay it until the GBC came out. Too bad a ton of the already completed game got the boot in the interim year + |

hmm very interesting. I'm a huge pokemon fanatic and never knew there was such a thing. It would be amazing if something like this ever leaked. Would be interesting to see new pokemon that were never released. I wonder if some of them were eventually released down the road? I don't guess it was in this rendition but I remember reading in a preview magazine that Gold (guess it couldn't be if they listed the game as Gold) was supposed to contain a skateboard. |
