First post.
Greetings to everyone on the board.

------------------------------

In the past weeks I searched for unreleased materials on japanese sites although I can't speak/read japanese.
I was lucky enough to find two sites that cover extensively unreleased Famicom games:

http://translate.google.com/translate?hl=it&sl=ja&tl=en&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ne.jp%2Fasahi%2Foroti%2Ffamicom%2Fmab00.html

http://translate.google.com/translate?js=y&prev=_t&hl=it&ie=UTF-8&u=http%3A%2F%2Fosaka.cool.ne.jp%2Fberabo%2Fmihatubai.htm&sl=ja&tl=en

In this site they cover some unreleased games for Famicom and Super Famicom.

http://translate.google.com/translate?js=y&prev=_t&hl=it&ie=UTF-8&u=http%3A%2F%2Fblake.prohosting.com%2F%7Eomokurus%2Findex.html&sl=ja&tl=en

Here there should be 4 unreleased games for Mega Drive although I don't have any idea of what those could be cause I can't read japanese and the scan are really tiny.

http://translate.google.com/translate?hl=it&sl=ja&tl=en&u=http://www.ne.jp/asahi/v/hara/vfd/goodby_sample.htm&rurl=translate.google.com

I was wondering if on this board there is someone that can read japanese and so add the context behind all those materials Smile

Bonus section:
Here an useful list of unreleased games compiled by a japanese guy.

http://translate.google.com/translate?hl=it&sl=ja&tl=en&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww2u.biglobe.ne.jp%2F~comefx99%2Fgmaborosi.htm

Interesting. Railroad Tycoon and Sound Fantasy are both games that SNESCentral have. Ochanoma Densetsu is a game that I have NOT heard of...

Eh, Google translations sucks, so I'll use the original untranslated sites. I've seen some of these pages before. Interestingly, a few of those games listed were never released in Japan, but did get American releases

This seems to be a catalog of Mega Drive games that were unreleased in Japan. Some of the games covered, like Rolling Thunder 3 and Samurai Spirits, got US releases.

EDIT: I meant the Mega CD version of Samurai Spirits. It seems that only the cartridge version was released there.

Some of the games covered were also covered in the other page. Some of the new stuff here includes:

Chachamaru no Boukenki 2: Mahou no Carpet ("The Adventure Chronicles of Chachamaru 2: The Magic Carpet") - a Famicom sequel to Chachamaru Panic. Oddly enough, Chachamaru no Boukenki 3: Abyss no Tou, a Game Boy game, did came out.

Sound Fantasy - a music game by Nintendo for the SNES which uses the SNES Mouse.
Railroad Tycoon - SNES port of the PC game by Sid Meier
Ochanoma Densetsu - Seems to be a board game-style RPG.

Thank you very much Johnny !
I forgot to mention that in the print ad about "Armadillo" 2 for Famicom there is a small screen about an "Armadillo" game for GB that shouldn't be released.

PS:
For whoever is interested in Super Famicom unreleased games I cite this article on U64 about Albert Odyssey Gaiden:
http://www.unseen64.net/2009/12/09/albert-odyssey-gaiden-snes-cancelled/

Edit:
I'm a sucker for Nintendo things, could you translate the bit about Nintendo's Palps ( or something like that ) when you have the time and the will.

"Grid Glover" = Grid Grabber.

Palps: http://bring.under.jp/famitu/entry/001872.html

Crappy web translation:
Quote:
Newly arrived game communication
'[Parupusu] (working title)'

There might be a lot of this software that Nintendo announced only for image [parupusudei;sukushisutemu] and readers who do not know either. It being not able to be the sale of it.
It is sometimes in the software of Nintendo, and it is too novel, doesn't finish settling, and there is a japanese aralia named software that puts aside indefinitely after all (Perhaps,) though the concept is novel. Anyway, it this game, and is considerably special. The player cannot take part in hero's movement while playing a game though it is basically an action game. The hero acts according to the movement that the player programmed beforehand. The program is made with the chip of the icon as being also in the screen photograph. 「The bullet is shot if the enemy is ahead. It advances in case of not being. 」It seeming was a program by conditioning, and be a system in various troubles under the game that dealt. The kind of the chip that can be used according to the progress of the game seems to increase, too.
Will point to program hero's movement with the icon chip and '[Karune-jiha-to]', etc. be near this if it says image [parupusu] now?Soft professional's robot fighting game for the disc system 'Breeder' yet adopts this system old. However, the operation of a simple program of the concept of "Hero of a usual action game" and '[Parupusu]' of applying it is still novel now. It will not be only an author that feels like seeing how '[Parupusu]' finishes by the game grammar of Nintendo present "It is comprehensible in everyone" though it is this software that put aside indefinitely again.

Interesting, I'm assuming this is the same Grid Grabber that Elite did in the UK.

I think I'll hurt my brain if I try to comprehend that. :P

In Japan, "Armadillo Gaiden" (Armadillo for GB) was released as "Ultraman Ball" (BEC/1994).

http://tamahobby.com/gameboy/gbultramanball.htm
http://gbemul.com/game/992/ultraman_ball/

All original characters were replaced with heroes/monsters from SD Ultraman series.

I'm not a huge Ultraman fan, so maybe there's some precedent for Ultraman rolling into a ball and bouncing on his enemies I'm not aware of. But this sure seems to me like one of the more ridiculous license acquisitions I've seen in a video game. It's still a ton of fun though.

Don't know about the soccer game, but the first one is definitely Astro Go! Go! (Not an AstroBoy/Atom game like that apparently crap magazine reported.)

Yeah I had that suspect but was put off by the listed publisher.
Oh well another scan that goes in the bin Rolling Eyes

The soccer game title is Empire 94 Soccer.
Amiga and Dos version was released but the snes version seems unreleased.
Graphically there is a clear difference between the snes version and the Amiga/Dos version because on the former version the field is rendered using a mode 7 sort of effect.

I haven't heard the name Mighty Astro, though.
Unless that was a planned EU title? I know it was planned for US release as Freeway Flyboys.

Mighty Astro is another name for Astro Boy. That magazine's text is describing the Astro Boy SFC game, but the screenshot is from a different game (AG!G!).

Ok , another one I'm not sure what it is.

Battle Boys - SFC ( that's the only information the magazine give )

the image is split because it was on two page.

EDIT:

I forgot to ask if anyone know about this Pc Engine game ( slighty off-topic Smile ):

Les J.O. d'Hudson - PC Engine

The first one is Battle Blaze (it was released)
and the second I wonder if it could be some kind of World Sports Competition-like thing.
Though I haven't actually played either.

Ditch that horrible magazine -- if all they do is copy pics from Japanese magazines, and have nobody on staff to transcribe the name from Japanese -- they'll invent anything to go with the picture.

The 2nd pic is Power Sports on the PCE.
