That sounds like something SOA would come up with, alright.

you lurked for two years to bump a thread that was a year and a half old by making a post that adds absolutely nothing to the thread?

That is kind of weird, but this was a good thread and a great article, so the more discussion the merrier.

Ok, I'm bumping this thread because I've just finished reading the article and while it's interesting there are some things wrong, some which could be disputed and absolutely no references to the author's sources. (Other than mr Wallis and Chris Senn).

I realize this was written some 7 years ago, and new facts have probably been uncovered since, but looking at many other sites with interviews, this article just doesn't add up at times. Some of these things have been pointed out in this thread but the article don't appear to have been edited to reflect these things.

Are there any plans on rewriting this piece? And what are the sources that author Jonathan Allen used? I see that he quotes Wallis and Senn, but where did he get the quotes?

From interviews he conducted himself obviously. No there are no plans for a revised article, other sites have covered this game better than we could now.

No, I didn't find it that obvious, hence my question. Since some things differ from other interviews I've read it could just as easily be interpreted that he read interviews and then typed the article...

Well, that's kind of my point. Why display an article that's obviously wrong in some parts? I have used Lost Levels a lot previously and rely on it as a fairly reliable source of gaming history. That's also the impression I get when I read your text about why this site was created - that it is intended to be accurate and preserve history. An article like this, and in conjunction with your statement above, makes me question everything on here. Are there more articles like this one? If I have these questions or doubts then others are bound to have them as well. I don't think that you need to be better than other sites, just accurate.

Look, my intention is not to come in here and start thrashing this site and the people behind it. I'm just confused and like to know your view on these subjects?

No, I don't have the time. There are questionable things and an obvious error that's already been pointed out in this thread! It's been acknowledged earlier in this thread that "maybe we should edit that article", I suggest you backtrack in the thread.

I'm more interested to know the answers to my questions in my previous posts.

To me, the statement "other sites have covered this game better than we could now" is a bit disappointing.

It's an article, not a wiki entry. By your logic IGN should go back and rewrite all their game previews since they know more now.

Also yes, you are correct, preserving history is important to me. Editing an old article is the opposite of preserving history, it is in fact altering history by pretending we knew things that we didn't.

You answered your own question, in a way.
