I'm not sure if this prototype has been dumped before. I couldn't find the ROM in the GoodNES set. Either way, Happy Halloween!
And thanks a bunch, TheRedEye, for the tip about the Disney producer. I think I will e-mail her! |

I've always loved this game, and this prototype seems like a slight improvement from the other versions (I don't get why HAL thought that covering the leftmost part of the screen in this game would improve anything).
Thank you very much for this dump! |

cool!
for the record, the CHR is the same as the released version (both Euro and Jpn ones), but the PRG differs!

Cool prototype, Activision were fools to not allow this to be released instead of their shitty game. |

So the HAL America logo was in there all along? Interesting. |

As to the US proto having a "wider" picture, my guess is that it, for some reason doesn't enable the hardware option to hide the left 8 pixels, while the PAL and Famicom versions do (as well many other NES games, to help reduce color glitches when scrolling).
Though I haven't tried the proto yet, so I don't know how much it affects this game. |

Thank you for this amazing contribution! Certainly, this has always been one of my favourite titles on the system and it's nice to see an alternative NTSC version.
Such a shame that this wasn't released in the US; the second Activision title was a waste, and this is a pure example of what all GB games should have been like on 8-bit hardware.
Maybe someday, someone will make a hack of this to cover the original GB story. |

Luckily only one version of Ghostbusters II was released on Game Boy, and it was based on HAL's game (though it's not the same game as HAL's NES game). |
