Not too interested on the made-from-scratch homebrew (I'd rather have a real prototype released even in an unplayable state, just for historical preservation), but seeing Bang Bang Busters released at last is a pretty cool thing... if the original code hasn't been tampered with.

EDIT: What bothers me the most about the homebrew is how they're also using the original company's name as if it was the officially approved, finished product... It just feels like a deliberate scam.

EDIT 2: Also, I don't get why that MAME calls it "Treasure of the Caribbean (prototype)" when it's not...

technically, neither is a prototype. they were released in 2011 by a company which bought rights from the original copyright holders.

so they are dumps of 1-year old carts (which is incidentally the reason why they are not supported in MAME), not really protos

I don't think I've ever read about anybody buying the rights for Treasure of the Caribbean.

treasure of the caribbean was actually very incompete, so it was half re-programmed by the guys that then released it, and that's why looks like an homebrew

but this is mostly 3rd hand info, so consider them as in need of confirmation
