I'm sure everyone here knows about the Atari Jaguar being used at dental offices and Super Nintendos being used by the US Army for marksmanship training, but it seems like artifacts from these systems pop up in the strangest places. The other day when I was going through old boxes from a warehouse, I ran across a few interesting things -- for instance: one box full of expired nipples, the rubber baby bottle variety, all individually packaged and expired in 1991; more Brown Recluse spiders than you can shake a stick at; and a Global Computer Supplies catalog from October 1992.

I'm sure nobody here could resist thumbing through an old catalog like this chuckling at $600 14.4k external modems and $4000 486DX PCs and I'm no exception. Anyway, I ran across something that would at the very least interest Tongueman here.

Global took the PC-Engine controller design for use with surge protector. I don't know why other than that back then, they prized useless electronic controls and little LED lights more than they do now.

Not exactly enough to warrant an entire post+thread, so to make up for that here's one of the many Brown Recluse spiders crawling around the box:

Haha, that repurposed PCE pad is pretty cool. Only 120 Joules dissipated too! :-P

Mr. Bratwurst is very interested in acquiring those expired nipples.

I am not brave enough to ask him why.

There's hundreds of them, unopened. Pretty sure their expiration was well before the salesman episode of Ren and Stimpy first aired, too.

Power Master II, that is. Keep your nipples to yourself.

It's too late. What has been unleashed cannot be so easily stopped

Makes me want to go and read the June 1991 issue of EGM. Their import news section was great back in the day.

Oh, yeah, and it looks like the moulding of the "Power Controller" uses the hand grips from the back of the PCE pad on its front edges.
