I'll leave this here. It's a rather boring game.

I dunno, that's a pretty exciting title screen for a game from 1986.

Hey, awesome. I assume since you're here you know we'd be really interested in backing those ROMs up but, in lieu of that, think you might be up to taking some video off of your phone and putting it on YouTube so we can see it in action?

I don't own it and my contact for it is known not to share which is common in Japan.

I did take a video of it that I will upload later and I do dump mainly arcade stuff.

Here's another one from the same owner.

Is VS Madoola notably different from the FC release? The title screen certainly looks more polished than the home version.

Only in that it is much harder than the original like VS Castlevania. It seems like both were primed for overseas release rather than Japan.

Figures that they'd change it to "The WINGS of Madoola" for the U.S.

A shame that Madoola was never released here. At the very least, the "heroine saves a prince" setup was a nice reversal of just about every other NES game's premise.

Just knowing this exists is pretty awesome. It's funny, I almost never subscribe to threads, but I knew I subscribed to this one for a reason. Hope we get to see more of this. Maybe your contact would take 2k monies for these? Laughing

Do any released Vs. games have that "developed under license from Nintendo for play exclusively on the Vs. System" text?

I'm guessing developers used the Vs. System to market-test their Famicom game in U.S.arcades and see how well they could perform (considering Nintendo were distributing Vs. System games in the U.S. a few years before they launched the NES). I know all of Konami's VS. releases never had a Japanese release, which makes sense if you think about, since they were just the first lineup of games Konami released for the NES (with the exception of The Goonies, which only saw a home release for the Famicom) and most likely were made to entice players into purchasing an NES if they didn't have one already.

Pretty sure Vs. Freedom Force does (by Sunsoft, go figure).

The first time I ever saw an NES game in action was in 1986 or so in a pizza shop. It was a Vs. SMB cocktail cab. That moment changed my life forever. So, their plan worked, Johnny. I can have the arcade experience in my house?! Sold.

PM me if you are serious. I can make an offer but it will be for a copy of the data not the original hardware.

Oh neat, so it's Blaster Master meets Gauntlet, looks like it might be interesting as long as you can eventually get a better attack than that punch.

If he's definitely not going to share the data otherwise, I/we could make money happen, but $2k is way too high. If you think he might be willing to work something out, please contact him on my behalf and ask what he would consider fair.

That video's from Comiket, or some other kind of game shop/arcade.

Anyway... it looks cool, actually!

No, it's not Comike (have you ever been? there wouldn't be retro protos there) nor any shop or arcade. It's a retro game convention.

I can tell you that the game is extremely boring. There is nothing to the gameplay but walking through mazes and punching. Fester's Quest has more variety.

So you're just stuck punching stuff for the whole game? That's disappointing, especially when the flyer shows the hero (does he even have a name?) carrying some sort of bazooka laser.

Still, it's neat to see it in motion. Is the soundtrack any good?

You can get a gun power up later on but it doesn't last very long. Couldn't hear the soundtrack at the show.

Just for clarity, I took the videos and I personally know the guys who brought the cabs.
