Does anyone know of any websites with information on SNES pirates
and prototypes?

Ever since TSR's NES Archive, nay, NES World, there has more information on the murky side of the Nintendo Entertainment System than my brain could every fully handle. Even this website, as awesome as it is, blows my mind and gives me a literal headache if I spend too much time reading up on NES mystery and history. There are still to this day so many betas and prototypes and unlicensed crap that are being "discovered" by collectors and written about and dumped onto the internet.

Sites like TSR's NES Archive were once considered to be part of the NES community. I was an active member of that scene from '97 to '00, so I kept up with that particular website throughout it's lifespan. But the realm of Color Dreams, and Sachen has gone far beyond the boundaries of the simple Nintendo community....it seems that a scene itself has been born of people who collect and crave this sort of junk.

Suddenly I feel very old.

Anyway, despite how this scene has exploded, and how there are so many more websites on the subject than there used to be, I never seem to come across any websites devoted to unlicensed and beta games from other platforms, like the SNES. I know they're out there, but they elude me.

Any help here, my fellow losers? :)

Ask and you shall receive.

SNES Central

And, to a different degree and without much focus on betas,

The Nintendo Information Repository

The reason you're not going to find info on unlicensed SNES games is that there's only one: Super Noah's Ark 3D. Other than that, I've seen some unauthorized fighting games, a Sonic hack of Speedy Gonzales, and not much else.

Thanks, guys! I didn't find as much info as I had hoped....
...but then I guess video game piracy (as in unlicensed originals, clones,
and multi-carts) is just one of NES' many nicely-corned
nichés, isn't it? Ah well...
