I just found this again after quite some time.

I found this Japanese demo one day, and eventually found a save state editing tool at Zophar. With that I could break the barriers that stoped me from seeing what had been changed. So, as I'm in the Epoch I decide to mess around with the pendant options. When I reloded the save state, I found this.

A hovercraft like option for the Epoch. MABYE the Epoch could cross water at one time?

It doesn't in the demo, it stops at the waters edge.

More pics.

I took them from all angles to prove it's not a hoax.

Furthermore, a savestate. Be sure to name it to match your rom.

Uh. It would be a good addition to the "Cutting Room Floor" site.

As long as I am credited, and asked beforehand, I will probably allow this to be posted elsewhere.

I REALLY wish BMF would update that page. If he doesn't, I'd do it for him. So much of his hard work gets purged in Sardius' unstable board.

Does it also work in the final version?

I have no idea, but I'll check when I can.

If anyone else wants to check, get the savestate editor from Zophar.

Make a save as you are in the FLYING Epoch.

Go in and change the option for the pendant.

Save changes and reload the savestate.

That SHOULD work.

Well, I don't mean to be an asshole, and I can't really claim this, since I didn't have anywhere to post information about this, but I found about this long ago. =)

http://ryoga.heypoorplayer.org/ctpp/

is my site for Chrono Trigger research/hacking/etc. Feel free to check it out for other CT weirdness (much more of which is soon to come).

I'm not trying to make a big deal of the whole credit thing, just pointing to a source for more info. =)

Good ol Ryoga.

You remember me? It's been awhile.

Great site by the way.

I don't know if anybody's ever noted this, but:

In the demo, Mayonaise/Flea doesn't MP Buster her assailant (unless this was just to make the demo version easier, like I think Dragon Tank was also feels easier to beat in the demo). She also uses a lightning attack (I think) instead of her Winds of Chaos or whatever it was called in the final version.
There was more I noted that I didn't see on your page, Ryoga, but I gotta go.

Well, anything else you notice will be welcome. Honestly, I haven't been noting gameplay differences; I haven't even really 'played' the demo much, just tried ideas to get certain places and hacked around with it and such, heh, so gameplay differences like that I probably wouldn't notice. I'll need to check that out later though. =)

Also, those shield enemies in Guardia Castle only turn as part of their attack animation in the demo. Whereas of course, in the final version, they turn and give you plenty of time to smack them for good damage.
Also, some minor menu changes madness.
Uh, and the Jet Bike scoring hadn't been implemented yet.

About the Exoskeleton, the only thing I can think of is the outer body of Lavos.

It's a possibility, especially being in the Misc section and all, but that would have to have been from really early in the development then since Lavos's shell isn't used like that in the proto.

Once I finish getting the kanji table done, I'll dump the location text from the pre to compare.

More info about the Press Release, but it's a shitty Wiki.

BTW, Ryoga, that overworld soldier guy could be a dummy sprite until certain animations for a character were completed.

It very well could, but why a character like that, especially one that bears such resemblance to the FF6 solider (imo)?

Actually, the way I always did it was, enable the epoch, and make sure you're in the air, and resave the state. Open it in the editor and turn OFF the epoch, then reload the state.

Or you can just use this state: http://ryoga.heypoorplayer.org/ctpp/fan_epoch.zip

If Singing Mountian was intended to be an Ayla sidequest, and it was supposed to take place after the Magus battle, it can be safe to assume that was how she finds Crono and the crew.

Also, it appears that the bridge was destroyed in the 1000 A.D. demo due to "A recent earthquake".
