I have a prototype NES game cartridge. It has the 2 EEPROMs sticking out. It is a pre-production version of Corvette ZR-1. I also have some blank NES EEPROM prototype boards with no chips, never used in perfect condition.

Would eBay be the place to sell stuff like this or would I be better off working directly with a buyer? And if it's the latter, how do you "advertise" to or find good buyers who will pay top dollar for a very unusual piece? I did see where a pre-release NES prototype of GI Joe recently sold on eBay for $200+ but I was curious about advice here.

Thanks...

I recommend putting it on eBay WITHOUT the word "prototype" or "beta" anywhere in the description, and then advertising it on any message board you can.

EDIT: Don't expect anywhere NEAR $200, though. That had to be a fluke, I haven't seen one sell for that much in a long time.

Dude, you have no idea how hardcore GIJoe fatties are. They're like Solid Snake, except they're not cool.

G.I.Joe is scary...

Take regular "rare" action figure 50$, omfg!
Take regular "uncommon" G.I.Joe 100$.

WTF!?

You can like double the price of it if it has G.I.Joe on it...
It's like the real life version of those odd rules you have in certain board games... Like in Monopoly or something, iirc, there's for SOME REASON a multiplyer on the ships/railroads and the darned workshops/powerplants... WHAT THE HELL!?

PinkEye, I've seen carts sell for odd prices every now and then, but I must admit that the highest price I've seen lately was something sold for 150$. (don't remember what it was)

+I recently got outbid on a Minish Cap Display DEMO cartridge for 130$

So I suppose stuff can still sell for a pretty high price, suppose it's a gamble though

Yeah, just rub it in!

I wasn't typing that on a MAC this time, Bahaaha!

Wonder why it happens when I write " on the mac though :-/

It happens when I write mails too... but only the ;& appears, not the quot part.

ODD
