Sooo...
Awhile ago, I was so pissed at myself for not buying the Dolphin "Gekko" processor prototype that was on sale on Ebay...
And look what's teasing me now o.O

What the heck is that? Was the Dolphin supposed to be cartridge based? Or was the dev system cart based or possibly just the first prototypes for hardware testing?

I doubt Nintendo would plan to make the final Dolphin/GC cart-based, as it pretty much ruined the RPG-starved N64 in Japan.
My guess would be maybe for hardware testing, but I'm far from an expert on such matters. Maybe because carts are faster, they could code small demo programs to get the basic hardware working first, then upgrade to the disc-based hardware? |
