Alright, so I didn't even know about this game until the other day. Apparently it was set to come out on the Dreamcast in early 2000 and was completely 3D, in somewhat of a Castlevania 64-fashion.

Outside of a few screenshots and basic gameplay info, all I've found is that the game was shipped to another development team midway through the process and that was the last anyone heard of it, as it quietely disappeared from release lists soon after.

So basically I guess my question boils down to A). what happened, and B). Was I the only person in the world who knew nothing about this game?

A) As I understand it, it turned out so poor that Konami scrapped it.

B) Yes. Kurt's had mp3s from the game on The Castlevania Dungeon for years, and apparently Gamefan had actual video footage. I managed to find a copy of their Castlevania Resurrection media page on archive.org, but of course that doesn't mirror large files like movies.

[edit] Oh hey, lookit that. Looks like someone found those vids for Kurt. Gotta deal with GameSpy for 'em though.

The legendary DreamCastlevania. :)

This game never got too finished, from what I heard they had intended to release this one when the Dreamcast first came out, but there were a ton of delays, a lot of them being that the team would keep scrapping there work and starting over again. After many many delays they did finally cancel the whole project, which by the way was being coded by, not a Japanese team, but in America of all places.

Interestingly enough, an early version of Resurrection surfaced recently, and was bought for a rather large sum.

There's a post about it at the Castlevania Dungeon. :)

Here. I meant to make a news post about this maybe a week ago, but apparently forgot.

Kinda sorta halfway maybe contacting these people, through a Freelance Goon.

Really, RedEye? That's awesome. Let us know what you find out!

Oh yeah, and Red already gave the link for Kurt's post about the proto, but here's another one that also concerns it, if you're interested:

Looks like the game's already been sold.

I dunno, that amount of money... it's a bit extreme.
