Hey, this game had some pretty cool music.

It reminds me a bit of the (nifty) "fake NES" music used in Retro Game Challenge.

E-mailed the leader, Justin Karneges, and now there's a reason why the game hasn't been released yet for anything at all. That means as a ROM, as a reproduction, as a release for a modern console, and so on. He replied to me after roughly one month in response to...

Quote:
Are you still interested in finishing the game?

Here was his response.

Quote:
We are still interested, but there are some legal matters that stand in the
way. So no coding has happened for awhile, and we can't outsource this I'm
afraid.

I replied back. What were these legal matters?

Quote:
Basically, we don't have consensus among the team to do a release, and I have
little energy to try to solve this problem right now.

Ah, so some of the team object to such a release! Haven't heard of that yet. More posts to follow.

Are you willing to create another game instead of releasing Infinity?

Nah, I'm done with games. Sad

Oh well. More posts to follow.

Tell me about the people who aren't sure about releasing the game.

For Infinity? Sorry, not going to get into that.

Quite understandable. Not sure if more posts to follow. We'll just have to see.

Careful not to pester him, he seems like a decent guy.

Damn such a shame. I'd LOVE to see this game released.

I could see this game being a successful indie game on XBLA.

No reply yet about Z80. I guess he had enough of me. Well, that's all.

haha I just now realized reading through this thread again that I sparked the creation of an article on joystiq. That's kinda cool I guess. I believe it might have been bagofsand who originally found the video though.

PostPosted: Wed Dec 18, 2013 11:17 pm    Post subject: My Contact With Justin Reply with quote

Earlier this I entered into a negotiation with Justin of affinix with the intent of buying the rights and releasing the game proper. We exchanged emails and then the deal fell through. I have was able to scrounge up some of those emails today but only one is from his end. I am willing to share said email if anybody wishes it. I am also willing to elaborate as much as needed. I just wanted to keep this initial message short.

well first off the way I got in contact with Justin was by messaging the composer of the game on youtube who informed me that Justin had bought the complete rights to the game. From there I engaged in negotiations with for the purchase of the right to infinity. My intent was to buy the complete rights finish what needed to be finished and then sell the game via indie platforms as well as by repro cart. I was even thinking about selling the actual rom itself. We played an online version of cat and mouse that eventually ended up with him wanted to sell me the right s for "a couple hundred K" and that is when the communication stopped. I can confirm that he was in talks with a team that intended to produce a mobile version, but he also stated in the same paragraph that "nothing materialized from that" I can produce some of the emails thought I was only able to salvage one email from his end. I think that a friend of mine who was assiting me thought this deal might have some. I will check with him and see what he has. in the mean time I could compile all of the email i currently have into a word file and post it on here if any one wishes.

I gotta say the thing I am most curious about is the story. It seemed rather interesting. It's too bad we'll probably never get to play this thing.

He should open up a kickstarter or indigogo campaign. he could easily fetch enough to complete and release it.

Sent an email to Eric Hache, the composer, concerning the possibility of a future release and whether or not Justin Karneges had bought the full rights.

Very cool guy, he simply said "Stay tuned, you never know. Smile"

Hey guys - Thought I'd post this here. Downloaded the ROM, did a Let's Play of the game (the bit that is playable, only four eps, alas...).

Figured I'd show it off: https://youtu.be/T1k4DJ847dI - Episode 1

Gonna see if there isn't a way past the block, so I can do the rest. Otherwise, I will simply need to wait impatiently...

Enjoy, lemme know what you thought! Smile
