Earlier, I was looking for some information on the obscure PC RPG Icarus: Sanctuary of the Gods. In looking for the developer, I ran across the rare-but-deadly confusing mess of information at Mobygames phenomenon. The developer is listed as "Mirage Interactive", who definitely is not responsible for this game - it's in fact by a Korean company called KRG Soft, who later made some MMORPGS and (I think) got swallowed up by MGame. Not that you would know this looking at any of the physical material of the UK release - it's only on the back of the German box and on the Polish version CD (which was where Mirage Interactive came in).

Mirage's site is down right now (after the domain apparently was bought by an ad site at one point), but Mobygames makes up for it's mistake by giving a nice quick bio. They're a Polish publisher who in the late 90s created a development studio which was responsible for three FPS games of less than stunning quality: Mortyr, Mortyr 2 and Sniper: Path of Vengeance.

Normally this would mean they should be avoided by the plague, but they seem to be (have been?) nice enough guys. They made some of their Atari 8-bit and Amiga games available for download, they linked to a Penny Arcade strip on one of their games, and how can you not love someone who writes something like this:

Quote:
Our beloved GameBoy Colour game hits shelves, as CTW denounces! Yea, reason for party again! For very interested - Hands of Time is loosely based on Mortyr story and characters. The runner-up for this game title was "Testicles of Dimensions". We are still not sure which title would suit better :) We would like to write here about other GBC project that will hit shelves in a short time, but certain Hollywood based company does not allow us to :/.

(the other GBC game is Robocop, which I'm pretty shares an engine with Hands of Time)

However, while I was using archive.org to look for info on Icarus (before I noticed the KRG Soft references), I stumbled across something I really didn't expect to find: a game creation tool kit for the GBA!

Well, not the kit itself, but a description, some screens and some (terrible looking) videos. It was apparently intended for making games in the vein of Xevious or Commando. I'm fairly sure it was never licensed (although who knows?), but I figured it's the kind of thing that's worth sharing here.

That's a strange conclusion.
