are there any more gba pirate originals that you know of? i saw something called "star wars 3" in turkey which i passed over thinking it to be a copy of one of the legit star wars games with a crappy pirate cover, but apparently its original and a space invaders clone or something.

other than that i've come across a bunch of weird pokemon games which turned out to be fan-made romhacks slapped in a cartridge, and something called "kirby red diamond" which may or may not be an original, but if it is then its probably a game boy game running in an emulator (as far as i can work out from some unreliable looking kirby fansites), and thats about it.

Red Diamond may be a hoax.

I was curious about pirate originals too, and doing a search on "rockman crystal" (I was distracted okay) led me to some russian internet shops (such as game-boy.ru) as well as, of course, porn.

While at one of the shops, I noticed this:

somewhat suspicious! probably just a straight bootleg of some fighting game, though.

Other obvious pirates:

Possibly an emulator and rom. There's a "russian version".

"Mario Kart 128m", supposedly.

"The Lord of the rings: The fellows hip of the ring 4 128m"

Curiously, the movie poster style of the boxart is inspired by the boxart for the games based on the second and third movie, while the original (and terrible) Fellowship of the Ring GBA title actually had a quite nice original illustration (I believe). This also has a russian version listed for it.

There's no Aladdin 2 game! Although Wikipedia tells me:
Quote:
A NES game was released in Europe based on this (edit: the Genesis) version. It was also ported, unofficially, twice more to the NES under the names Super Aladdin and Aladdin 2; Super Aladdin is generally considered superior to the official port.

ah, the piracy cycle. The upper version was listed as the "russian" version. I'm not sure where the box art is from - it's clearly an official piece, but it's not based on any other game box or movie poster that I know of.

There's one Hulk game for GBA, but there's three listed at the site, and they are all the "russian version". One has the boxart and description of the real deal and isn't shown here. The top of these two has an identical description but a boxart that seems to be taken from one of the comics. The bottom one has the boxart from Ultimate Destruction (which had no handheld versions) and a description that sounds like it could go to same.

Also I should point out now that some of these have great filenames before they're sent to tinypic...that second hulk is "dsc00195_edited", which might indicate a picture taken with a digtal camera and then edited in an application specific to that camera (or not). And the Aladdin pictures both had "copy" in the filename :P

This is listed as "Disney" and says it's Beauty and the Beast. There was a GBC Beauty and the Beast game with the same boxart, so...

This is listed as "Ultraman confrontation between justice and evil (russian version)". The filename is spid.jpg :\

M-M-M-MULTI-KART!!

There's surprisingly few Digimon games for GBA (unlike the ten billion Yu-gi-oh releases) - only three, and none are RPGs (two fighting games by Dimps and a kart racer with some kind of neat music). I assume this 3 would be a pirate of one of the fighting games. I don't recognize the boxart as any other Digimon title from browsing GameFAQs. Regular and russian flavors.

Oh man, what is that horrifying face? Has a russian version too. They must just be versions with box descriptions/manuals in russian or something.

a curious oddity, the Russian edition of Shining Soul has the subtitle of "Души света 2" (soul of the world 2), and that turns up on similar russian sites....kind of odd, since I don't think Shining Soul has any specific relation to any other SF game other than having the Dark Dragon in it (and the usual SF cliches).

There's probably more at the site (and other russian sites possibly) under the exact names of the game (instead of something suspect). Hell, the russian versions themselves might be unofficial in some way. I wish I had the money to waste to just scoop up anything that looked interesting.
