I am not going to get to involved in this discussion cause it is pretty heated and been discussed many times before. Everyone can bitch about the NA community editing the ROMs but when that is the only option we have from the person we are getting them from, what choice do we have? It is either don't release them at all, or release them in the slightly modified form. Plus the coders are all still getting credit for what they done in the end credits. The only thing that has been changed at all is the Licensed by Nintendo part, and the copyright date removed (per Dream's requirements). Nothing else in the game is being changed at all in any way. Plus all the original ROMs are backed up and saved so they won't be lost with time.

I am a NES historian as well, I have piles and piles of NES information and documents and have preserved and shared the majority of it with the NES community over the years. I understand why people would be concerned if the ROMs were just being altered and the originals were lost forever but that isn't the case at all.

On Happy Camper for instance, I changed the title screen ROMs for it as well, but I own the rights to that game now (yes I have written proof of that from the company) , and I have every right to do as I see fit with them.

Finding new stuff is getting harder and harder these days as sources and places dry up to find stuff in the wild. So getting ANY unreleased game out to the masses is a major victory in my eyes for the community as a whole. Sure not everyone is going to be happy, but you can't please everyone. Hell I bet if I stood on a street corner and handed out gold bricks that some people would still bitch that the person in front of them got a bigger brick, LAUGHING OUT LOUD.
