I've had an NSF of this for a while, not sure where I got it. I think someone else made it?

Anyway, back when we first got the ROM I wrote a script to dump the levels. No sprites, though, but you can really tell how lazy they were, especially with the second stage:

There are some other hidden things in the game and other stuff we found, maybe when someone's not busy they can pilfer all the interesting stuff out of that thread.

Other people said they had the NSF too but when I asked for it, they didn't have it. I thought maybe they were talking about the Bio Force Ape Homebrew, perhaps.

No one in their right mind would make an NSF of any of the public versions of the homebrew...

Here's my copy of it. Has a date of 4/8/2010, which is about a week after we won the game (so probably a few days after it was dumped).

Chris Covell ripped the NSF shortly after dumping the ROM.

Ah, that's explains it. If you guys release that NSF, I can remove mine no problem.

:-( Gil, if my NSF is missing the noise track (sounds like it is) but yours has it, then everyone please delete my rip.

The first release I made didn't have the noise channel. The second and last release does have the noise channel. I fixed it today as a matter of fact. Compare NSFs; yours and mine to see what's going on with yours. I can't tell if yours has the noise channel since I don't have the file.

I keep feeling like it should turn out that this was Suda51's first game or something.

LAUGHING OUT LOUD. I found this kinda hard to believe, but then when I looked myself I could also make out a letter "S". Since I read that it's original working JP Title was "Crack Buster", perhaps it's a chunk of the old logo?

... can't seem to find "Crack", though, although there seem to be more scattered letter-parts in the general "title screen graphics" area. Is there perhaps a way to provoke the graphic into appearing on-screen in some form?

Indeed it resembles "Something Butt... err... Buster":

I think the first half of the tiles are overwritten by those used for the US title (mainly the APE part and the SETA logo which shouldn't belong there) and so it is not recoverable at this point.
Edit:
All right, I've found some spare tiles in another bank that fit nicely and resemble the 'T', so it's quite concrete that there is a 'BUSTER' part in the original logo (possibly the T part is animated like flickering or whatever):

There is a solid 'B' as well, don't know how it's used. Maybe used as sprites underneath the background to give some more colours.
Maybe there are some other left-over stuff.

That's a cool looking logo, I like it better then the one that ended up in the final game.

Out of curiosity, where does the (awesome) boxart come from?

If someone wanted to make a repro cart, could they use the art from that ad without it looking like total ass? Just curious.

Odd though, the ad mentioned that it was to be a Super Famicom game, unless it's referring to the content on top of it.
