|
|
I'm shameless: to let people know a little bit more our eBay search site I've just made a small leak.
The Game Boy Color Demo cart.
I didn't find the ROM anywhere, so I presume it's unleaked.
If I'm wrong, Ill leak something else!
You can make it run with a GBC emulator.
The site is www.gamesniped.com
I hope you enjoy.
This is just the first leak

Awesome release, man. I'll check that out at home.
Regarding the Sqoon and Gegege no Kitaro Famicom carts, Sqoon is a pirate and Gegege no Kitaro is legit. |

are you sure Sqoon is a pirate? I've seen a lot of Famicom pirates, but never one like that before. |

That GBC demo has been on the net for a long time now.
The Famicom carts with EPROM windows (and usually a switch) are all copies. They were made as part of a very basic Famicom "duplicator", which copied NROM (mapperless) FC cartridges to a cart equipped with two blank EPROMs. They might be passed off as prototypes, but their distinctive cart shape (round groove for easy cart removal, EPROM windows, a switch) and support of only the most ancient of FC titles give them away. |

The GB versions are hard to dump because of the non-standard boards. Common dumpers just don't support them.
Fortunately, there is an open-source Gameboy dumper out there for us provided by the amazing Brian Provinciano called GBlinkdl.
1.) Connect cart to 'GB<->PC Parallel' cable (sometimes even provided with GameSharks.)
2.) Connect cart to your GB/GBC cart -- Spiritual Warfare (or something else.)
3.) Read the header.
4.) Add an entry to 'gblinkdl.cpp' for its header.
5.) Set it up to dump the first bank.
6.) Disassemble or debug the first bank to find the bank swap register(s).
7.) Don't know where to go from here? Give the dump to someone who does. (Such people may even exist in console development IRC channels.)
Oh, I have all of the DOS Wisdom Tree games if anybody is interested; and they work well in DOSBox, but aren't cracked yet. I haven't tried yet, but I always have the manuals to scan.

Sorry for the useless information.

Nicola, this dump is pretty awesome. I wish that it was interactive in addition to the demo. Still neat to see the way the showed off their new hardware. |

I remember seeing this in Target back when the GBC first came out. They stuck it in a GBC and stuck the GBC behind the glass they kept their games in. Assuming every store was the same, interactivity wouldn't have helped much. :I |

If you watch the Zelda demo portion you can see that it is programmed animation and not programmed physics. I doubt Wario Land or Zelda could be hacked to be interactive. I could be wrong, since I have yet to look at the code.
Anyone? |

Oh, I didn't expect the code on the cart to be in some way playable. I meant that in addition to this running loop of animation, that if one were to press any button it would halt said animation and allow a short demo of gameplay (in color), maybe a few lines of tetris or something. Although it if was meant for behind-the-glass demonstration only then there's no point. I just figure if you're going to intice consumers with a brand new color gameboy demo, you'd also allow them to try it out. Guess not. |

I remember I used to play this ROM back when the GB Color was still all the rage, but I had completely forgotten about it...
Thanks for the release/reminder.
EDIT: Just found a little piece of unused stuff:
Kinda looks like the death animation in "Mario Bros" with these colorized Super Mario Land 2 graphics. Might have something to do that this part of the demo is reminiscent of the Disk System intro with the Mario Bros sprites (or might not). |

He's showing off his nips too in the holes cut in his black leather tank top.
And those aren't overalls, because they don't match his pants. And they aren't suspenders, because they are wider than his red undershirt.
Nipples and lipstick. No wonder he never does the princess.
