So, it looks like they changed the sphynx after that screenshot was taken, and before it was removed. The rock and the sphynx's chin still look the same, but the snake looks a bit different (as well as the beard, obviously).

Which issue was that?

As I said before, I no longer have the cover or the first pages, but it´s from summer '91 and it had a SNES on the cover, if that's of any help.

Does anyone know if the sprites used in the enemy select screen are also in the rom?? Or what does the Japanese text say??

The stages with the Metools avatar say "koujichuu" (Under Construction). I remember seeing a similar screenshot for a beta version of Rockman 6.

According to my trusty dictionary, it says "Koujichuu". "Under construction."

Edit
* Kitsune_ hits Johnny Undaunted with a huge mallet

"Beat me, will you?!"

Ooooh, unfinished stages. This would be one heck of a prototype.

If I remember, that pic was from the August, 1991 issue of EGM. I have that one too, just not here.

Indeed it is.

Scanner fritzed out before I could scan LOTR. I'll do it later.

That image reminds me a lot of a "The Bard's Tale" image I saw on an issue of Nintendo Power ten years ago...

They're probably from the C64 version of the game.

Nope, the C64 version is a crappy looking text adventure. These look like NES graphics to me.

I've got similiar images of Megaman 6 for NES in some magazine.

(having metal helmet dudes instead of the bosses and such)

I can propably scan them next weekend, unless someone else does it before me, EGM August 1993 - V6, Issue8, page 104-105

There's also some Megaman X beta footage there.

Not realy sure...

Never played Megaman 6 to death... So I don't realy know...

Some stuff I'd like to check out myself, but I don't have time.

The X footage is one of 3 "White city" images + another image I can't recall ever seeing posted anywhere.

I'll scan this next weekend unless someone beats me to it.
