This may or may not be old news to some of you. but theres this page dedicated to levels cut out of mario bros. 3 but accessible with a game genie, that i thought some of you might find interesting.

Although most levels arent any great loss but are still interesting. ive always thought that level 7 in particurlar deserved to be in the final game. Smile

is it actually possible to finish level 11? (when its hacked with a game genie, the ground beneath the box simply disapears)

There's actually an IPS patch somewhere that changes the first world around so that you can play all the levels in the rom that aren't in the normal game. Some time before you get to the level that cannot be finished, you end up getting a cloud that allows you to skip it.

Now, where IS the patch..

Weren't these lost levels repackaged with Mario All-Stars for the SNES? Some of those screenshots I've seen remade on the SNES before.

I don't believe Mario All-Stars had any more levels than the original.
The changes were enhanched graphics and sound. You had the ability to save up to the start of the current world (which also allowed you to exploit to collect the Toad House items more than once, and also allowed you to replay earlier worlds). Nintendo claims some minor changes (like they say you can't enter the air-blocked pipe in 4-4 without a Frog Suit. They lie.).
But as for new levels, nope. The US debut of the real SMB2 were the only "Lost Levels".

Possibly SMA4 for GBA, don't know. Wasn't about to spend $30 for a game I pretty much owned twice already.
