I remember ads in GamePro and the like for this, and it getting held up several times (even indicated in crossed out release dates in the ads themselves.) Does anyone know how far along it was when it was canned?

I can remember somebody once linked to some CES video that showed maybe like three seconds of footage (like the party walking in a castle). Damn if I could try to find that again.
And it was probably Lufia 1 as the ads specifically contained the "Lufia & the Fortress of Doom" logo. (well, that's actually ALL the ads had aside from giving a December 1994 and then spring 1995 release estimate) |

Yup. My bad. Was supposed to be a port of hte first one (though considering the prequel nature of Lufia 2, it would have made more sense to port the second one.) |
