"Near Death promises to be one of the most exciting 3-D polygon fighting games for any next generations gaming consoles. Featuring real-time 3-D polygon, texture mapped graphics, this game is sure to be a sight to behold. But beyond mere eye candy, the controls of this game will be responsive and intuitive, with a frame rate of sixty (60) per second, making you feel as if you are in the ring. Background scenery will feature a futuristic atmosphere and the characters will be varied and unique. Unique special attacks for each character will ensure the ultimate gaming experience for fighting gamer fans!"

Could this be an alternate name for the PSX version of Heaven's Gate?

They released Heaven's Gate in Europe with the name intact, months after the American suicide cult incident? :D

Good info! I should have put the pieces together as Atlus hasn't made too many fighting games. The preview was written in 1996 prior to any of the Playstation ports being released so it's possible they wanted to change the name for American audiences because of the shared name with a cult.

"On December 13, 1996, it was ported to the Sony PlayStation in Japan by Atlus. In October 1997, JVC Digital Studios published it in Europe as Yusha: Heaven's Gate."

also, realise now I provided the wrong link. Here's the direct link to the preview circa October 1996
