I recently became became aware of the Undumped Games list on the Bootleg Games Wiki, and it kind of made me nostalgic for the (very outdated) undumped games list that got me into video game preservation, however-the-heck-many years ago.

It turns out 34-year-old me is pretty similar to 18-year-old me; I still want every NES game to be accessible. So I teamed up with Sam Derboo at Hardcore Gaming 101 to try and track down and dump some of these last few stragglers.

If you like Korean Famicom games like I do, this one should be right up your alley. It's made by some of the guys who went on to form Open Corp (the team that made Buzz & Waldog), and that game's DNA is really obviously present in this one - those same sound effects ripped off from Tiny Toon Adventures, a similar aesthetic, etc. In a lot of ways this game is simpler, but in many others it's actually a way more ambitious game, complete with a shop system, minigames, lots of character upgrades, etc. The ROM size is even twice that of Buzz & Waldog!

I'd say more, but Sam's way more qualified, and he posted an annotated longplay last year. Watch that to learn more.

Sam also scanned some vintage magazine coverage, which you can find here.

Download the ROM here.

Current only plays in the latest Mednafen or in a jailbroken Analogue NT Mini, as far as I know. Mapper info for supporting it in your own emulator is here, courtesy of Kevtris, who was rad enough to reverse engineer and dump this game for everyone.

And before anyone asks: Yes, we also dumped Dooley Bravo Land, but the owner of the cart wants to do something with the ROM themselves before it's out in the wild, so I'm not posting it yet.

Thanks!

You mentionned on the other thread that Kevtris also (re)dumped Koko Adventure, does the dump matches the one found in Kamming's nongoodnes set?

For those who want to play the game on FCEUX, SVN r3335 supports it.

However that SVN had an issue where the mapper wasn't being included in the compiled build. SVN r3335 fixed it and is available as a compiled build.

Apparently it says an announcement should be on his blog later today (Feb 24 here). We just need to stay tuned.

In the end, was this ever released? What "plans" did the owner of the cart have for the game?

I also own this cart, and if the ROM release is being delayed because the original owner of the current ROM dump wants to make repros to profit or some bullshit like that, I'll just contact someone and let them dump mine, to thwart such bullshit before it happens.

Didn't someone dump and release Dooly years ago?
Or is it the Master System game I'm thinking of?

The ROM was released on the gamehistory.org site rather than the forum I believe.
There

You're thinking of the SMS game.
