I was reading x-entertainment, and I saw the old article about the Howard Johnsons' Game Gear promotion. I vaguely remember that. I remember staying at a Howard Johnsons around that time. I don't think I got a Game Gear to play, but maybe if it was a rental thing you had to ask?
Well, anyways, I do remember about this time the Perkins restaraunts had a promotion they called Kid Perks or something like that.
I guess maybe to quiet noisy children, they gave them buckets of crayons or coloring books, but more interesting, a Game Boy or Game Gear to play (in exchange for a parent's driver's license to ensure the system's return upon leaving). That was good for the children, better for them to sit and play Sonic 2 instead of counting the ceiling tiles. But, I kinda wondered why they quit that after a couple months. Other customers rather listen to screaming children than 8-bit tunes? |

Employees probably stole too many of them. |

I recall staying at a Howard Johnson while they were running a Sonic the Hedgehog promotion and getting some kind of comic book, but I don't remember the Game Gear situation. |
