I know San Andreas has a lot of added depth. The GTA games just never really quite captured my interest though. Vice City seemed kinda cool, being 80's themed and all, but San Andreas' 90's urban/hip-hop theme is infinitely LESS interesting to me. GTA has transitioned from gangster to gangsta. Bleh.

Don't think I need to tell anyone how much of a GTA fan I am.

To be honest though, as much as I like GTA, at first, when I began to play San Andreas, it seemed much the same. However, as I played it more and more, it just got better and better! Now, I can't get enough of it!

I love the missions and all of the new gameplay variety (stealth missions, etc.). And as great as the missions are, all of the side stuff along the way keeps me busy having fun as well. In fact, I'm still in the first city, as I've been talking my time on the missions to make sure I get all of the tags, take over all of the hoods, etc.

I've had the experience a lot lately with games taking a little bit to grow on me. Being a Rockstar game, I bought Midnight Club 2 a while ago, for example. Was a good game, but I wasn't crazy about it at first. Months later, I started playing it again, and didn't stop until San Andreas was out! I still love MC2, and it's the best racer I've ever played! Even though Need For Speed has Brooke Burke, Midnight Club is still far better!

San Andreas is definitely the best game out today! It just combines soooo many genres into one game, it will definitely last me until the next!

You know, I forgot about the fact that it was a stage in GTA1, despite the fact that's how _I_ knew what the next GTA game would be after Vice City XD XD XD. Should also note that SA was mentioned in VC very briefly. Thing is... it's almost as if SA was originally meant to be a city and Rockstar changed their minds halfway through to make it a state.

If it were me, I'd have kept it a city... a very very HUGE metropolis that combined San Fran, LA and Vegas. Because as a state, San Andreas is really honking small, even with the desert and countryside.

Oh and I'm not sure if this is mentioned anywhere later in SA, but GTA3-Guy (who also happens to be GTA2 guy) does have a name according to Rockstar; Claude Speed. Yes, weep with me as I cry like this -> ;_;

But yeah, I have to agree: CJ may just be one of the dumbest guys I've yet to play with. I didn't like GTA3 guy too much because his silence was almost a weakness (come ON, if you were with Catalina, you'd have to scream a few "SHUT UP, BITCH!"s to keep your sanity somewhat in tact), but I liked Tommy since he could still do the job and make a crack from time to time.

I've been getting more into the game myself. True, it's glitchy as fuznucks, but you know... I've yet to play anything on PS2 with this much replay value and depht.

And Axl Rose as the DJ of KDST has a certain coolness factor that doesn't leave me feeling totally alienated for the Los Santos portion of the game. Not that I don't think Axl Rose was a total douchebag, but... yeah, it just works. That works, and so does Samuel L. Jackson as a corrupt cop.

That's the guy that sounds like a Ă¼ber techno German, right?

(Sounds sorta like the characters in the universe around Mike Myer's "Dieter", he's freaking awesome... and disturbing... and scary... *help*)

But... are you saying that the GTA3 main character is the same main character as in GTA2?

Anyway, GTA3 main character rocks!
Vercetti was okay too, as he had a goal!

The first part of the game i felt this way too, but by the time i started doing the missions for woozy (or whatever his name is) and the r/c shop i realized the game succeeded in expanding beyond just a gta version of gang warfare. Plus the sound track is more varied than the other games.

I agree CJ is a idiot but he has some of the most entertaining lines when carjacking people ive heard.

KDST, or "The Dust", is the Classic Rock station. Axl plays Tommy "The Nightmare" I-forget-his-last-name, the washed-up hasbeen asshole rocker from the 70's. In other words, he plays as a decade-older version of himself. Of course, Axl may not be an asshole anymore since his GnR days, I dunno, he hasn't made a public appearance in years... which is why it's so shocking Rockstar managed to snag him for this game.

And yes on GTA3-guy; he was also the main character of GTA2 (and if not, they're freaking identical twins or SOMETHING). Rockstar made some short films for GTA2 that featured him and had his name come up on a terminal.

"Claude Speed" though... man... that just... bugs me. Should have left him nameless. I seem to recall reading somewhere that Catalina makes reference to the "Claude" name somewhere in San Andy', but not until I see/hear it will I believe it.

And yeah, once you leave Los Santos and start doing missions for Jizzy and Neo...I mean, Woozie, it strays WELL away from the gangsta culture. Believe me, they did not give into PC pressure of making this "GTA for African Americans". To the core, it's GANGSTER. But even gangbanging in this game is fun. The way Turf wars are done is INCREDIBLY fun. Too bad you don't do 'em for most of the game (only begining and I've been told near-end) as later, CJ deals with Triads, Itallian Mobs, Pimps, Rednecks, the Entertainment Industry, and everything else but bangers.

It's not GTA unless you're dealing with multiple syndicates, not just one.

...too bad CJ's so damn stupid. WHY WHY WHY would anyone help "OG Loc"!? X_X Though I do have to agree about his lines, especially towards his girlfriends.

"Wow... this is just so interesting. I'm just gonna listen..."
"You ain't got no VD or nothin', do you bitch!?"

My favorite line, and yes, I'm spoiling it, stop reading now if you don't want to know, is when he picks up a whore, finishes, and says "I hope I don't get pregnant!"

Awesome.

Actually, it's...

"I hope I don't get pregnant again."

...which makes it even more delightfully wrong.

I'm glad that San Andreas went from "Gangster to Gangsta" for the pure fact that it adds "great" (heh, Sunman) variety. If every game is based around the mob, the series would get a repetitive quicker. It will make GTA4, the sequel to GTA3, that much more enjoyable, since it will have been four or so years since the last gangster GTA (VC).

"Claude Speed" eh? That totally fits GTA2, though it is a little funny for GTA3. Haven't decided yet what I'll call the character in Grand Theftendo, but I've got ideas.

Back to SA, I love the stealth and burglery missions a lot, but what's really captured me now are the gang zones! This feature is something I never really thought of before, but is one of the main things in my opinion that makes the game so much better! I'm working hard to make all of the sections green!

There have been some glitches in GTA since the beginning, but none ever really bothered me, they were all minor (except for a few in the Game Boy Color ones). However, in San Andreas, the targeting is VERY glitchy, where it won't target fellow gang members to join and such, and when the character shoots up in the air even when an enemy is targeted. As well, the character often has trouble climbing walls and such, jumping or sliding along the wall instead (although when it works, it's another excellent addition!). Running, then grabbing onto a wall, and climing over in the nick of time isn't really possible. I seem to need to position the character before climbing. Those are the only real things that can get annoying. I ignore them though, and just have fun! It just makes the game a bit more difficult and gives me more play time value, heh.

The "new" Gn'R (with Brain, Buckethead and a couple of Nine Inch Nails collaborators) played a few shows (mostly in Europe and South America) a couple years ago. It has been confirmed that Axl is still a prick.

When he popped up on mtv music awards a few years ago and played that was cool but i highly doubt that new album will ever make it out considering the last time he toured he no showed a concert (again) then pulled the plug on the tour with no real explanation

However with that said guns n roses is still one of the greatest rock bands ever. Smart move to include them in the San andreas soundtrack.

People have said that about Journey, Winger, Whitesnake, Styx, Stryper, and many others. There goes that arguement.

People don't still say that about Winger, Whitesnake and Styx though. I do still hear people give major props to Journey, but they deserved it more than most of those other bands.

And was Stryper ever really THAT popular outside of Christian Rock? Whoever's saying they were ever good needs to be beaten with their own King James.

That's right I said it.

GnR's recieved a LOT of praise even after they faded into hasbeenism, and still seem to recieve a lot of praise, well more than any other hasbeen band I could think of. The thing I don't get is, even when they were popular, a lot of people that went to their concerts would swear up and down that they really sucked bad live. Yet, they're still considered kings of metal.

One thing that bugs me about GnR in San Andreas is that with VC taking place in 1987, I was shocked not to hear GnR then, as that's when they were the most popular.

Why the hell would you spend money to get into a concert just to tell them they suck?!
