Name the gaming systems that died too quickly you rekon and should have been given more of a chance and etc, for Eg, 3DO.

I am trying to get myself a Saturn,DreamCast and want a CD-i and 3DO and also a Atari Jag.

Well, the Virtual Boy sure is a neat system. It interests me more now than ever. It's completely understandable why it was a flop though. One, as neat as it is, it's just a red screen, which discouraged people. As well, it was a half-portable/half-console, and had a weak stand. There weren't an enormous amount of games for it, and it was just more pleasant to overall play a SNES game at the time. The games were single player, and you had to stick your face into the unit! Another topper was that when it came out, there were all of the rumours that "if you use the virtual boy, you'll need glasses!", something most kids including myself at the time sure didn't like the sounds of! I tried it once at Toys r us, but after hearing the rumour, I never touched it again, until a couple months ago when a bud of mine got a hold of one.

The Virtual Boy is definitely the coolest thing that didn't take off in my opinion. When I finish my NES development, the VB will very likely be my next hobby project.

Yeah, the VB is probably the most interesting failure in gaming. If they could've made just one game that was a system seller, then it would've been a success.
That reminds me, I need to get an AC adapter for mine... Finally put some serious milage into Red Alarm.

I was always a huge fan of the PC Engine line myself... ._.

I loved it's version of Y's I and II ;~; Y's III kind of sucked donkeyballs when compared to the SNES version.

Saturn in the US, of course. The number of games for that system which still cause my jaw to drop at their prettiness is just criminal.

I know the... Pippin.

Ok you can all stop laughing now. IT would have been interesting to see how the PC-FX would have faired in the US.

Honestly, I think the M2 could have ruled the N64/PSX generation if it was released.

Im an atari fan so of course im gonna say Jaguar. It had some ok games but only a few (and of course the great aliens vs predator)

My view is that there were three major problems.
1. Very little 3rd pary support
2. A disc drive add on that reminds people of a toilet when attached.
3. The Tramiel family

I know there was more but that hits the main points in my mind. Of course the Playstation and N64 only helped put the nail in the coffin.

I have a Dreamcast, and love it... I feel like it has too few games, though...

Other than that, I never played the Jag or any other systems that didn't last very long... Only Jag thing I remember is a preview for a mech game that I think turned out to be on of the better games... Dunno where that Tips & Tricks is, now though...

I think my boyfriend owns a Jag, though... He has a ton of systems and all, but I don't think he has any games for it...

Yeah its hard to do the math when several of the games were ports of 16bit stuff. It did have some stand outs just too little too late. The other thing i noticed is that most places never even carried the system in my area. They were only stocked at sam's club, kaybee toys, and sometimes toys r us.

I also remember the sad late night commercial begging people to buy it.

(don't kill me Kitsune)

Vaguely remember this LamePro about the "JAGUAR-O" (finding some... er, pratical, I guess... use for a Jaguar after Atari died).
(same year as the Virtual Box?, or was it the next year?)

I have no clue why you would expect me to kill you. Because of the trailing O? Meh.

Maybe if you could scan that article I'd get it.

For mentioning GamePro (specifically, the April Fools' "LamePro" sections)...
In this case, they parodied the Jaguar by suggesting it as "a friend for lonely times", showing a Jaguar taking a cigarette, and using a couple Jaguars as ear muffs, for cold weather (and even that part was just a random memory). Typical LamePro humor...
