It was in a UK mag in the realise table and it said Metal Gear Solid for N64, that would have been sweet, what happen.

That sounds like it was probably a pretty dumb mistake by the magazine.

Yeah, propably a fucked up release list!

Only talk there's earlier been about Metal Gear Solid appearing on Nintendo home console, pre-Twin Snakes, was when rumors said that Sons of Liberty would possibly be released on GC with connection features to Ghost Babel.

Well if metal gear actually made it onto n64 it would have been so much more difficult than the ps version. Main reason being all that fog, and if you want to imagine what it would be like just blur all the textures until it looks smooth and throw some fog in everywhere :P

If you ask me, MGS would've been more or less perfect for the N64.

RE2 proved to be a very good N64 title, why shouldn't MGS be one too?
(If it ofcourse was real, that is)

MGS on the N64 controller would've made baby jesus cry. It was okay on the GC, but I shudder at an N64 controller. That'd be even worse than trying to use the DC controller.

I found MGS quite comfortable on the DC using Bleemcast...

Besides, don't always assume that the controller layout would be the same if it was to use the N64 controller

I would've actualy tried to experiment a little with the Analog...

Like...

Touch it a little, snake walks, move it about halfway through, snake runs and move it to the edge and snake tosses down on the ground and starts crawling.

I kinda remember reading about Metal Gear Solid for N64 in some Spanish magazines as well, but then Konami released Hybrid Heaven and they said it was just an alternative to MGS.

I don't know wether they actually ditched an MGS remake in favor of HH or if Konami's original press release just wasn't clear enough.

Hybrid Hevean was awesome... though a little slow without the Exp pack and a little too slow with the hi-res on :-P

Yeah, because N64 cartridges could TOTALLY handle all of those voice clips.

Resident Evil? StarFox 64? Conker's Bad Fur Day?

You *can* store a lot of voices on a cartridge, although you'd have to drop the quality and compress the living daylights out of them. Conker used super-low-bitrate MP3s, I believe (which probably also had something to do with the awful framerate at times).

Get Factor5 involved and they would've propably found a solution to keep it all in a quality equal to the PSX version.

But this is Metal Gear Solid we're talking about. It probably has twice the dialogue of all those games combined.

Don't forget that the GBA Max Payne had most of the dialogue from the PC game in.

But I agree - I played through Metal Gear Solid a few years back, there's no fucking way they could've fit all that in a cartridge... at least not in your typical N64 cart.

Urgh. NO.
Making all the way to the edge the command for "fall to the ground and offer the guards your soft, pillowy ass" would be a bad idea.
