It's on some FTP clients actually.
Once I get broadband (any day now, praise the lord, any day now!), I intend on downloading it. I love the Sega CD, and this sounds fairly bizarre.
How long would you guess it takes, on a 2 meg BB connection? |

Depends on who's serving it. I'm sure you're not going to find anyone whose upstream channel is as fast as your (future) downstream. |

bump
inspired by the recent update (and seeing the thread on SA for the first time, but I don't have an account there) I started playing this again and big surprise, I'm fucking stuck.
I'm in Las Vegas, talked to that weird guy and the guy who turns into another autograph-seeker, went back to NY to get the meat for the tigers, came back to Vegas and used that "Maurice" thing to open the double doors, and... well that's basically where I'm stuck now. So many doors and I keep running around in circles, having no idea what I'm supposed to do or look for. I still haven't seen that second "boss" yet either.
also I talked to some random person that told me to drop dead or something, and then put a big slash over the game screen. I'm guessing this is permanent...? |

The slash goes away if you talk to that same NPC again. It doesn't have to be the EXACT same NPC, but one that has the same behavior as him (there should be several, everywhere).
Also, I don't even know where to begin helping you, because I don't know how it's possible to be where you are without fighting the second boss. You should work on that. The trick is getting past Debbie on the left side of the carnival, I think maybe you get a password from someone? Maybe the crazy guy in the casino that Penn can't communicate with? |

So, off the top of my head, this story is on:
Digg, Waxy, Slashdot, BoingBoing, GameSetWatch, The Inquirer UK, and it was on a G4 program last night.
All these reports, and no one has contacted me? |

This is why videogame "journalists" should probably be taught the difference between anecdote repeating and actual journalism. |

aha, why the heck didn't I try that? thanks.

I don't know either, but it was definitely possible to get to Las Vegas without fighting that boss, so I just wandered around there for a while instead. But I used that password to open the double doors in Las Vegas, and it disappeared from the inventory...?
oh well, I have to start over anyway since I tried to Alt-Tab out of the Fusion emulator, but my finger slipped and hit the Space bar instead of Alt, and since Tab resets the emulator... yeah. What a pain in the ass without having a save feature or savestates. |

Manual released! (thx bbh)
There's so much hidden shit in this game it's crazy, I hadn't even seen half of it until I read the manual. Apparently the secret half of the game can be unlocked just by pushing start on controller 2 during the intro. Who knew! Sun Scorchers was pointless before, but now it's my new favorite game. Writhing on the ground and screaming like a woman seems to work best, though I'd like to try using fake blood sometime like the manual says.
Also I would like to request that someone do a walkthrough for the Smoke and Mirrors part because such a thing needs to exist! |

Yeah, isn't it great that we were getting scammed by the "fake" intros for 6 months without the knowledge that the manual provides? Oh that wacky Penn & Teller.

totally. The game doesn't even exist in GameFAQs' database yet.
I forgot to mention, did anybody notice the "score" that Penn gives to Escapo after you kill him? hahahaha.
edit: okay, I started playing this again and got a bit further this time. But right now I have no fucking clue what to do... yes I beat the second boss this time, I got Lou Reed's autograph and went into the wax museum and figured out what to do there, but now I've got another item from there and the stethoscope from the tattooed man/bearded lady. There's a closed double door in Vegas that won't let me in, with a hallway right beside it that I can't go into either... |

Did anyone who downloaded the old torrent have audio tracks that had nothing but static and buzzing sound? Cause the one i burned has that. Or did the leaked copy only have scratchy audio tracks on it and no music at all? |

you must have done a bad burn, although that seems odd since all the music is contained on the CD instead of being playable CD tracks. Try burning it with Fireburner or something? |

What did you burn with, and what are you playing the game on? I didn't have any problems like you're describing - burned in Nero, played in Kega Fusion with perfect sync enabled. |

I burned it with alchohal 120. That might be it. Cause when i mount the bin cue in alchohal tool that emulates a cd/dvd drive, the audio shows up fine through windows media player. So is it the way burned it? Cause I tried it again with alchoahal and it gave me the same error. |

I downloaded the first disc, and played desert bus, and saw a gorilla head float about doing nothing.
Right now I'm downloading the manual, but... is there anything else to this game? Since I'm feeling let down slightly.
Oh, and let me just say, broadband is quite possibly the best thing ever to be invented by mankind. Better even than alcohol.
EDIT:
Just read the manual. I get it now. |

Uh, sorry for thread-necromancy, etc, but I just recently downloaded the game and started trying it out. However, I get a "insert disc 2" message now and then (yeah, I downloaded both of them). Problem is, how do I "switch" discs in gens, without it restarting?
Or should I use another emulator? Or just burn it?
EDIT: Used Kega Fusion instead, works like a charm! Please disregard this post! |

Of interest to this thread:

One of my friends knows the people doing this. Basically, they are raising money for the Child's Play charity (the Penny Arcade charity). They are playing the Desert Bus minigame for many hours straight to rais money. |

No good ever comes from releasing games over bittorrent, all we're doing is raping their legacy! |
