Wasn't there supposed to be some Wizard of Oz game that was based on the kids cartoon from the 80's-early 90's? I remember reading about it in NP when I was a kid. I DO know there was a SNES one too.

Sorry its not a Treasure, more of a lost lostling, but you guys dug up all the good ones =\

Hey, most cancelled games aren't exactly stellar. I think we've come to that realization by now!

Anyway. As far as I can tell, Wizard of Oz was merely announced by Seta at CES 1992, without a playable, and then quietly disappeared. No screenshots or gameplay descriptions have surfaced.

There was that Chinese pirate by Waixing "Wizard of Oz" that questionably used sprites from that game and many others.

I don't have screenshots to post.

I think there may be some mock-up box art out there somewhere. But don't quote me on that.

Lu Ye Xian Zong or Wizard of Oz (Chinese) was made by ESC/Waixing for the Famicom. It would be interesting to see if there are actual sprites of Seta's Wizard of Oz within this.

Here is a shot of the intro. (Yes, that is Zordon of the Power Rangers.) I wouldn't put it past Waixing to make a custom intro, but there was the case of Nitra releasing "Time Diver Avenger"; which was a 3rd-party release of the unreleased game "Time Diver Eon Man".

Thoughts?

I don't buy the theory that it could have elements of Seta's Wizard of Oz game. If they had that, why wouldn't they just release it instead of making their own shittastic version?
