The links for these 2 games, as most like others as well do not seem to work...I am new to these forums, so, any info on how I might be able to obtain these would be much appreciated...
thanks! |

I don't think Lost Levels has a server for binaries right now. Maybe somebody should do something about that, but I think the general consensus is "it's been out there for two years, so you've gotta be able to find it somewhere else by now". Has howdy doody really not added these to GoodNES yet? |

thanks TheRedEye , big help...didn't even notice that result in google...
in any case, it is a bit odd that the post about sending the roms to howdy doody is over a year old, yet they still haven't been introduced into the goodnes set! |

Do you know where I can get the proto of Taro's Quest? I've searched everywhere and it's not in goodnes. |

By "everywhere", you clearly didn't mean Google. There's a front page result for it. I am not as nice as Frank, so I'm going to make you check yourself. |

I've checked all the links on google, only found the Japanese version. The one from http://64.53.95.207/noreview.html is Japanese, not the english proto. |

Man, you've got a pretty strange definition of "Japanese". |

Nevermind, it's the proto (I must be going crazy or I opened up the wrong zip file on my computer before). Thanks Skrybe! |

How much is traffic on the NES binaries? I could give you some hosting or mirroring, my bandwidth hardly gets touched. |

Not much traffic at all, the only issue we have is with "legalities."
You'll notice that word is in quotation. This is because we have yet to hear opposing word from any copyright holder for any of the games we've hosted. Hell, I'd be surprised if anyone actually held the copyright to many of the games on this site, I'd imagine most were filed as tax write-offs once the projects were cancelled and are, therefore, in the public domain.
We've gotten complaints issued to prior web hosts calling us "pirates" and some kind of fiendish software piracy circle "disguised as legitimate journalism," and we've been shut down - illegally, I might add, since the complaints were not issued from a copyright holder - as a result of it. Apparently all the work and insane amounts of money that has gone into the articles we write are really a smokescreen so that we can illegally put shitty old Nintendo games on the internet and...and...well, we haven't figured out what to do from there, but there's profit somewhere!!!
Anyway, point being that we're not currently hosting ROMs on the Lost Levels domain, due to fears from our appointed Minister of Paranoia that another kid sitting alone in his parents' basement might stop playing Second Life while fondling himself long enough to write a complaint letter to our new hosts, who may or may not - illegally - shut us down for "investigation."
If you'd like to host our ROMs, I'd be delighted. Maybe you can set up a little web page "mirror" with a chronological list of them, or something, and we can link to it from each article. |
