Ever since I've imported the original Famicom version of the game (Ike Ike Nekketsu Hockey-Bu), I always thought American Technos did an idiotic decision on bringing out Street Challenge before it (Ice Challenge is clearly a superior game). I heard there's a finished proto floating around. Any truth to it? I'm curious to see how Technos handled the localization (especially with the changes made in Street Challenge). |

I know there is a proto out there owned by a collector, but it's not completed as a lot of the text is still untranslated. |

A birdie tells me there is a finished version. But then another birdie killed that birdie and told me that I couldn't play it. But then a smaller birdie crawled out of that birdie's mouth and said that there may be coverage elsewhere on the internet soon. |

I know for a fact that EGM did a two-page spread on the game and mentioned the localized names for all the playable teams in the game (Nekketsu was Southside of course, the Kendo club was Sprague and the Tanibana Killers were a military school) and Youichi (the captain of the Nekketsu Hockey Club).
There are actually a lot more Kunio/Crash games that were planned for localization (Soccer Challenge for the NES, Street Challenge for Game Boy and Super Dodge Ball for GB and SNES), but I don't think any of them went beyond the planning stages.
What about Technos games that were not released anywhere (like Mad Champ 2099 or the NES versions of Xain'D Sleena and China Gate)? |

Let me take a purely wild guess on the identity of the second birdie:
DreamTR.
EDIT: Good God! Are the people here grammar nazis? |

Oh hush, DreamTR isn't involved in this.
As far as the grammar thing...that's an auto-correct I put in. I thought it would be funny.
It was!
...I'll edit it, and confuse everybody.
Yes, I also doubt anything else got far beyond the planning stage. Except for Blockout, which was actually shown at CES. |

Ah, okay! :D That took me by surprise actually, since it happened the moment the post went up. I thought it was actually hilarious to be honest.
Has anybody found a Block-Out proto yet? |

Aw, I missed it. How did the first victim of our random censoring fall?
Anyway, what was the deal with that supposed Kunio motorcycle game for the SFC? |

Uh, there are two actually, and neither are in a dumpster of any kind. |

I'm not so sure myself actually. All I know is that it exists.
Since Renegade and Kunio-tachi no Banka both had bike stages, I guess Kunio's Bike Racing would've been based on those games. Either that, or it would've probably been some Excitebike-type game with the SD characters. Apparently there was a screenshot in the Kunio-tachi no Banka manual, but I'm not sure myself.
One thing for sure: Kunio's Bike Racing would've been way cooler than Kunio no Oden. I hope Technos reconsiders the idea for the GBA. |
