I released the finished patch for Jelly Boy 2 for the SNES.
(this unreleased game's ROM has been out forever. Only recently seeing a translation)
A couple months back I released a patch that translated everything. Not sure how many people caught it.
Well, anyways, now I managed to insert Chris Covell's awesome title instead of the earlier version.
I also managed to figure out why the game had a hangover whenever I tried to modify one of the game's original graphics that Chris pointed out was in Engrish.

Well, I've now actually made a page about it.

That is incredibly hot!

I love that game.

Was actually fiddling around with it ages ago, but had such a short attention span, still stuff to learn and no one to help with the translation half of work, so it kinda fell through and was forgotten.

Time to fire up the Hyper Effect Pro.9 to take it for a spin soon

Thanks king mike- I am myself doing the title screen for Arabian Nights- I have some idea of the work you've put in!

I love this contribution you & chris have made... from the bottom of my heart- I thank you both! These translations bring a piece of gaming history closer each time!

I remember wanting to buy Jelly boy 1. It's sequel looks equally cute. Good job on the translation.

Only one I can think of is Smart Ball, which is the US version of Jerry Boy (the prequel to this game. I can only imagine it's Jerry Boy as a pun because the original game's protagonist is named Jerry, and he's a jelly, and both are pronounced the same in Japanese).

The patch didn't work for me. The game gets all garbled and soon crashes, after the unchanged "Epic/Sony Records" screen.

I can't recall if the original ROM had a header, but if there is one, it should be removed before patching.
Also, are you using the IPS or Ninja-format patch? (hopefully only one).

Is the ROM 1,572,864 bytes (=1,536KB =exactly 1.5 MB).

Check the original ROM in ZSNES. Does it have a CRC32 of F3A6C574?
(Ignore that the checksum fails. I've heard it was typical for checksums to not be calcuated until a retail version is produced, and this game of course didn't get a retail version.)
That is the ROM version I tried, and it works for me on LunarIPS.

The ROM is right. I'd say it's the only version floating around.
I don't know much about the handling of headers and stuff (therefore I much appreciate an easy a program as LIPS); that might be the problem...

Look around for "SNES Tool".
It can easily remove a header, if there's one.
It's a DOS program, but it should work in Windows.
Select Delete Header, use left and right to browse to the ROM directory, select a fresh copy of the Japanese ROM (it'll be easier to find if you rename it to something 8 letters or less), note the filesize. If your ROM is bigger, it's probably got a header.
If so, then select it and choose yes (SNESTool is smart enough to ask you before deleting if there isn't a header).

Did it. It worked. Cool

Perhaps you shoud add this extra step to the documentation, since it concerns the only known version of the game.

Y'know ZSNES can do "on the fly" patching without permanently modifying files? That's how I roll.

I think that SNES9x hacking version removes the headers automatically when you boot up the game. Look for that.

It might be a good idea to not remove headers when hacking them in the future tho. I like a patch that lets me just patch and not mess with other things first.
