So I was flippin' through EGM #87 (October 1996) when I stumbled upon previews for both of these games. Major Damage was slated for PlayStation, a 2D action side-scroller shoot 'em up that looked like a one-player bastard child of Contra and the 3DO's short lived failed attempt at a mascot, Captain Quazar.
The other, Werewolf, would have been on both the Saturn and PS1, and unlike it's original tabletop RPG source material, looks like it would have been an action game. I think there was a topic on this one here, but I can't find it.
About all the info I can find on Google was that protos exist of 'em, with Werewolf being finished/near finished, and an interview with a guy who worked at Capcom who calls himself "Raven" from a '94 GamePro.
There any interesting backstory on these two, or just the normal assumed quality issues? I can't remember if it was around this time Capcom was dealing with financial woes or not, since that tends to happen a lot.
Seriously, if I had a scanner, I'd scan the Major Damage piece just to post it beside Captain Quazar. |

Saturnfreak_nl managed to get one of the two, so if all goes well, we should have some information about it soon. |

well I was more interested in background info, really. Such as if there were legit reasons as to why they were canned other than the normal "quality issues".
Seriously, I wonder if the same design team for Major Damage was involved with Captain Quazar. |

For reasons i don't want to get into, i'd be willing to buy that game off of you in order to dump it. Let me know if you're interested. |

Hmm. Well, I bought it together with somebody else. I paid roughly 60% and get to keep the original disc. Keep in mind that it's probably a rolling demo (hopefully in real-time).
Should get it in tomorrow, hopefully. |

I remember reading on Gamespot in their Graveyard feature a few years back that Capcom Japan took one look at FoxHunt and killed ALL US development immediately, closing their US dev offices due to them creating total shit. |

Well, looking at FoxHunt, I might have done the same thing... |

Looks like some crappy Midway/Acclaim game (like Rampage World Tour, Iron Man/X-O Manowar in Heavy Metal). |

Yeah I know what you mean. The gameplay is reasonable though. |

Capcom studios didn't close down as a result of Fox Hunt. Totally untrue. Capcom closed maybe 3 years ago but reopened in Redwood City.
From what I heard, Major Damage and Werewolf were cancelled because the techs couldn't get the games working well enough. (Which I suppose means that the games weren't playing as well as anticipated) |
