|
|
For those who don't know, there's a couple of screens from a previously unknown Sonic puzzle game at the main page of Sonic CulT, which reads SEGANET GAME in its header.
It looks like the SEGAnet device was used in Japan in a similar way to the SEGA Channel or the Super Famicom BS system, and its users were temporarily given some exclusive titles that were long lost since.
So does anybody know of any other titles that were released for this thing? They could be something interesting to look forward to, specially now that one of these games has actually been rescued. |

I think that in-game music must be among the worst ever made. Definitely not Bosanova Oyz's best work. |

The game was ripped from Sega's own online emulator service [download and play the game]... and the service has all of the SegaNET games, so someone's gonna rip 'em eventually. |

This game feels like a crappy version of Columns. And the music is very horrible. Definately play this game with the sound mute. Still neat to see this game released. I am interested to see what else Sega put out for that SegaNET thing. |

Well, that's only if somebody buys the rest of them... =\
Here's the full list of games they have on sale. There's many other interesting games that haven't been publically released yet, such as a MegaDrive version of Penguin Land. |

Are those Phantasy Star games ripped yet? I'd chip in the money for those... |

How much ARE those, anyways? I'd definitely chip in some for those Phantasy Star games. (I couldn't chip in much, but... :/) |

Looks like the following games were only available on the SegaNET:
16t (Looks pretty odd)
Sonic Eraser
Penguin Land
Hyper Marbles
Putter Golf
Paddle Fighter
Pyramid Magic 1 & 2 (These might have been available on one of those Sega Can compilations on the Mega CD)
The Phantasy Star adventures (Also on those Sega can Mega CD compilations I believe.) |

From the original topic at Sonic CulT:
Quote: | If anyone here wants to register an account BTW (costs about $10US I think), I have a program which can rip a standard iso from the messed up image format sega uses, and inside that iso resides the rom, along with thier version of gens, the help docs, and all that other junk. If there's a game or two that you really want that's not dumped (or you've got some cash to burn), just register an account and throw the username/password my way, and I'll rip the rom. Remember, you only get 3 games per account, so choose carefully. The URL for the thing is http://sega-gamehompo.jp/ and the site is all in Japanese, so if you can't read the language, you'll probably have a bit of a hard time registering yourself. |
And:
Quote: | I believe we can get 3 more games each month. To get them faster will require buying more account(s). |
By the way, there's even more SEGAnet games at SEGA B-Club, along with some SegaSaturn games (+ emulator) they're also selling. |

"Their version of GENS"? Don't they mean KGen? |

Well, the RealOne Arcade thing uses a modified version of Gens, so maybe SoJ is using it too... |

This program sounds kinda nifty, being able to play/dump obscure Genny games is always a plus! Too bad you can only choose 3 games per account... |

Some more info, regarding the program Nemesis made to extract the games.
Quote: | I'm still going to hold back on releasing this program to everyone though, and the reason for that is simple. There's no sence in 3 people paying money for the same games, and ripping them, not knowing that it's already been done, or that someone is doing it at the same time. If you're willing to pay for an account, get in touch with Ryoga. This way there's no confusion, and there's no money wasted. It also makes it easier to keep track of what has been dumped already, and what has been confirmed to be the same as the version already available.
Don't worry, the program will be made public shortly. For this initial period though, I'm trying to avoid a lot of people flying around getting accounts. |
And regarding the account they're using:
Quote: | As of right now, it's only Reala and I who are working on the releases (me doing the page translation and downloading, Reala paying for it). You can get a maximum of three games per month. We should have all the unreleased games dumped soon. |
This is so sweet. |

being the obsessive researcher I am, I've done some BG info, and found the following:
http://sega-gamehompo.jp/game/MD_DOKIP/index.html (on one of the game kans)
http://sega-gamehompo.jp/game/MD_PTGLF/index.html (on one of the game kans)
http://sega-gamehompo.jp/game/MD_PMAG1/index.html (on one of the game kans)
http://sega-gamehompo.jp/game/MD_PMAG2/index.html
http://sega-gamehompo.jp/game/MD_1DANT/index.html
http://sega-gamehompo.jp/game/MD_SONIE/index.html
http://sega-gamehompo.jp/game/MD_16TON/index.html (on one of the game kans)
http://sega-gamehompo.jp/game/MD_PDLFT/index.html (on one of the game kans)
http://sega-gamehompo.jp/game/MD_HYPRM/index.html (on one of the game kans)
these are all definitly meganet games
http://sega-gamehompo.jp/game/MD_PSTAN/index.html (on one of the game kans)
http://sega-gamehompo.jp/game/MD_PSTSH/index.html (on one of the game kans)
http://sega-gamehompo.jp/game/MD_PSTHU/index.html (on one of the game kans)
the Pstar games, of course. Only 3 are avalible now
http://sega-gamehompo.jp/game/MD_FZAXI/index.html
http://sega-gamehompo.jp/game/MD_PMAG3/index.html
these two games on the upcoming list are definitly meganet games
http://sega-gamehompo.jp/game/MD_CHAME/index.html
this one is very interesting, because there is no such dump of "chameleon kid". Kid Chameleon was a JUE release, and has no visible differences between the countries.
http://sega-gamehompo.jp/game/MD_PSTKI/index.html (on one of the game kans)
upcoming PS text adventure
http://sega-gamehompo.jp/game/MD_SINOM/index.html
very possible (I'd say a 90% chance it is)
out of all of those, only a remote few were on the game kan collections. This is the list of game kan games. a ^ symbol means it's on sega's site/will be, and a * means there's a rom avalible. a ? means it's unknown if it's going to be released at all.
kan 1:
*Flicky (fairly common rom)
^Paddle Fighter
^Hyper Marbles
^Pyramid Magic
*Phantasy Star: Shilka's Adventure
?Phantasy Star: Amia's Adventure
*Phantasy Star: Huey's Adventure
?Phantasy Star: Eusis's Adventure
Kan 2:
?(Role Playing) Kanji I can't read
^Putter Golf
?Medal City
^16t
?Robot Battler
?Teddyboy Blues
?(Action) Kanji I can't read
^(Puzzle) Kanji I can't read (doki something)
?Phantasy Star: Kei's Adventure
?Phantasy Star: Rudger's Adventure
^Phantasy Star: Kind's Adventure
*Phantasy Star: Anne's Adventure
So far the Anne, Huey, and Shilka text adventures and Sonic Eraser have been recovered. |

By the way, while we're on the subject of Phantasy Star, ever notice how the portraits in II line up pretty nicely?
They're even in order of appearance. |
