Two translated articles on the new Mega CD from Mega Drive Fan and Beep! Mega Drive. There's a list of games at the end, some not released including: Super Gals Panic by Kaneko, Shin Haja no Fuuin (Miracle Warriors) by Kogado, Crying Dragon and Vice II by Treco, and World Rally by Visco.

Release list from a letter sent by Sega of America. Lots of unreleased stuff:

- American Cup by Mentrix
- Bean Ball Benny by Nuvision
- Berlin Wall by Kaneko
Same game as Wani Wani World (released in Japan), I'm assuming
- Cadaver by Mirrorsoft
Conversion of a Bitmap Brothers game
- D-Axe by Sega
- Dando by Treco
- Darwin 4081 by Sage's Creation
Released in Japan
- Demolition Rally by Seismic
- Jesse "The Body" Ventura by Dreamworks
Considering Dreamworks never released an original game, could this have been a localization of something else?
- Kabuki by Seismic
Mystical Fighter?
- Land Buster by Seismic
- "Macross" by Seismic
That's supposed to be "Macress," which was turned into Saint Sword
- Magical Hat by Sega
Turned into Decap Attack
- Mondu's Fight Palace by Activision
Released as Slaughter Sport by RazorSoft
- Power Drift by Sega
- Star Cruiser by Dreamworks
Released in Japan
- Super Burger Time by Data East
- Swamp Thing by Nuvision
- Vette! by Sega
- Winter Games by Sega (EPYX!)

New Japanese releases! Unreleased (or just bad translations and I can't figure out the real name): Vazome by Treco, Fildius by Unipacc, Letz (?) by Sega, Appare! Jitsugyooo (?) by Sega, Helli Fighter (?) by Sega, Power Drift by Dempa, Amatelass by Kodansha, and Omega Fighter by UPL

List compiled by "Scott N Streeter" from the March 1990 issue of Game Player's. Unreleased: TeleGenesis Baseball, TeleGenesis Battling Worlds, TeleGenesis Cyberball, Tongue of the Fatman by Activision (later released as Slaughter Sport), Hard Yardage by Activision, California Games II by Epyx, 'Vette! by Sphere, Skulls and Crossbones by Tengen

I have gone through these lists myself years ago, but I found them to be unreliable (some snes games listed were found to be NES games). I prefer to use print publications to really verify things.

I don't have time to research all the game names, but I can remember the Genesis game Steel Empire being listed as "Battlewings". "V Attack" became Arrow Flash on the Genesis.

Looks like you're right...This lends credence to the notion of Sage's being Hot-B (of course, Sage's publishing the Hot-B developed [but not published] games Crack Down and Blue Almanac is probably better evidence of this).

True, except Flying Edge eventually published Steel Empire, right?

Well, a lot of the Sega stuff's from magazines, anyway.

I think Sage's Creation was gone by the time Steel Empire came out. Sage's was also supposed to publish King Salmon, but VIC Tokai did instead (Sage's Creation is still mentioned on the title screen).

Yeah, same here.

Plus, the stuff somehow gets perpetuated by the internet to the point where lies become truth.

Super NES/Super Famicom

Super Deformer from Bandai

I don't know what I'm talking about and I'm way out of my league here, but is it possible that "Super Deformer" being in an unreleased list is a mistake? Bandai has a long running series of "SD" games, with the SD meaning "super deformed" (or whatever cute words they can make it, kind of like DS titles where the DS stands for something else; I believe the SD Gundam game had it stand for "Superior Defender" but I digress), usually starring Mobile Suit Gundam robots and Ultraman heroes. The whole SD thing has a huge number of games on the SNES alone, with (at least) five SD The Great Battle games, at least one SD The Great Battle Gaiden, and a series of grand strategy games based on various Gundam timelines. I'm wondering, basically, if something got mangled in a release list somewhere and a "Super Deformer" game might be a bastardization of a name of one of the SD games released.

Someone on the Select Button forums posted scans from the 1991 Sears Christmas catalog. There's a screenshot of "Jesse 'The Body' Wrestling." Looks like it's just a localization of Human's Thunder Pro Wrestling Retsuden...

Uforia.
The Bugs Bunny Birthday Blowout shot doesn't look familiar.

To LAUGHING OUT LOUD the prices: Who'd pay more for Heroes of the Lance than Final Fantasy?
And can I still buy the original Phantasy Star for $19.99?

Was GEN Batman going to be called The Dark Knight? And was there really a room in Sword of Vermilion with that many people?

A PR description of Hard Yardage from a book called Video Game Quest:

Quote:
Football has arrived for the Genesis! Strap on your helmet for the most realistic football action ever on a video game system. In HARD YARDAGE, you're down on the field, experiencing the fast-paced, hard hitting action of pro football, up close and personal. Two simultaneous views cover all the action. The "Field Cam" gives you a bird's eye view of the entire field. The "Action Cam" zooms down to the trenches for an on-the-field perspective. Sixteen teams, each with their own tendencies, unique play books, and superstars. Slo-motion instant replay lets you relive your best (or worst) moments on the gridiron.

TeleGenesis Baseball, from the same book:

Quote:
One player looks out on the field as the batter. The other player is the pitcher and looks down from the mount. 2 player TeleGenesis action, or 1 player play.

I've found some other TeleGenesis-branded games in this book too, but they were all released without the modem support.

I knew Snoopy's Magic show was meant to be something else (Death Ball), because the Snoopy Sports game for the NES was known as Donald Duck in Japan!

Also, A possible prototypical match for ''Dweeberz!'' by Vic tokai is possibly Kid Kool. But due to next-to-no info, There is no evidince.

Hard to say, Kemco had a habit of changing licenses between regions.

How many did we end up attaching to the Crazy Castle series?
Roger Rabbit, Mickey Mouse, Bugs Bunny, Real Ghostbusters, Garfield, Woody Woodpecker. At least.

I feel just a little bit silly for only now realizing this, but Activision's Hard Yardage is obviously the game that Sega purchased as its first (unreleased) attempt at Joe Montana Football.
