I have information that will SHOCK and AMAZE you about Japanese MEGAHIT "Little Witching Mischiefs." It's a hex strategy/action game based on magical girl animes of the 50s and 60s, as you surely already know. It was made by Toys for Bob, who made a few relatively unknown games like Star Control 2, and basically I found out that their Japanese little girl game had enemies from their American strategy hex/action game The Unholy War, asked them about it, and told me that yeah, that totally happened. Apparently they were instructed to make a game exclusively for the Japanese market on a license, then that license fell through and they were assigned another license which they knew even less about, so they just put it together as mechanically well as possible and remained clueless about the rest. It's the reverse of Japanese games made for America, in other words.
Since I couldn't bear the thought of you guys somehow living without being able to answer all of your BURNING QUESTIONS regarding games for little Nippon girls, I wanted to point out the article I wrote. Includes email where Toys for Bob talks about Kirk Cameron with a trident! You know you want to. |
