(okay. Ex-proto, as they actually burned the original ROMs back on to the cart afterwards.)

Okay. That's now two protos found in a Zelda II case (also Nintendo Power's Sim City).

I think I recall seeing a Zelda II used as a homebrew dev (one of Chris Covell's games?).

Is the game really that bad? :D

No it isn't. Zelda fans need to stop whining about it. :P

I'm not a Zelda fan, so can I whine about it?

Zelda II is my favourite game. Maybe people think if they put stuff in a Zelda II cartridge it will give the project good luck.

I have two copies of Zelda II and I'm not sure why/how.

It didn't work for Blues Brothers for the NES:

My proto is in a Zelda II case and that game STILL came out like shit Wink

Poor Zelda II :(

People must've either really hated that game or used the shiny gold cartridge as a poor attempt at a trojan horse. Hoping the shiny glittering thing will get some extra magazine coverage or something before it unleashes hell on the (p)reviewer's screen.

That is the cleanest cut eprom window i've ever seen in an NES cart though.

I have a feeling Zelda II was cheap, plentiful, and shiny. A perfect choice for any game developer with ADD. I really do wonder why they'd bother to burn the original game back on the eproms though... You'd think they could just put the original chips back in.

My Hatris proto has a very similar super clean cut:

It's the one on the left. My Bases Loaded 2 proto wasn't as lucky, but it makes up for it with a killer highlighter paint job Smile

The irony of all of this: wasn't there a big shortage of Zelda II cartridges in the U.S. for a long time, to the extent that kids were having their parents import it from Canada?

eliminator boat dual is actually a really good game. the music can get very tiring, and that theres no continues, but after playing it a while and getting used to the mechanics i find it pretty fun. good bit of replay value due to how challenging it is.
