I found a magazine ad in a November, 1985 issue of New York Magazine advertising the NES. The NES was test-marketed in New York around that time, and I believe this may be the first NES ad ever: (link)
Google Books is awesome and I want it to grow exponentially. |

Pretty cool guys. I have been browsing sites with vintage ads, mostly blogs, and I find it interesting to see how we in the west have evolved in our concept of popular culture. Cigarette ads in the 50's with babies telling their moms' to chill out and smoke would be heinous today.
I'll keep an eye for old game ads. |

Someone on my IRC channel was saying that old National Geographic magazines are great sources for old video game ads. |

George Plimton Intelllivision ads, probably. |
