You'd use the XDK instead of an external capture device because the XDK allows you to take the screen image right out of the system's frame buffer. That means there's no loss of data, no blurriness, no messing with resolutions, and the file is instantly saved to your computer with the click of the button using "free" (pirated) software.
I guess I can mention this now... Back in 2007 Microsoft was planning on releasing Rent a Hero as a download in the Xbox Originals program. It was slated for a release on 12/31/08 (a placeholder date to be sure). I'm guessing they never managed to work out the licensing... |

Well that's just my luck lately... Hoppin Mad has been sitting in the car since the day i got it in the mail. I take it out to find a box and mail it, and i slip on the black ice getting out of my car. The game case went skidding across the parking lot and some water got inside and fucked up some of the label. In the process, i think i broke something in my arm since i can't straighten my elbow anymore. See the link below for a pic (of the game, not my elbow).
What would you like me to do, do you want a refund, do you still want the game, or do you want a refund and the game? If you want to come kick my ass, the GPS data was encoded in the pic.

Maybe they'd be willing to replace the label, given the weird circumstance? |

That's what happens when you don't listen to the warning label on wart remover... It completely cleared up about a week after i took that pic. |

So, silly theoretical question here...
Has anyone considered looking at the data to compare it to the Dreamcast JP version's data? I thought to try it myself but I'd need to do ISO extractions and durf.
Was curious about the prospects of swapping out the JP version's script for the translated one in the Dreamcast. I admit it's probably not likely at all, but, well, the thread was bumped, so I thought to ask anyhow... |

If the Dreamcast ran Xbox DVDs, you might be on to something there.
ProTip: It doesn't. |

Never actually checked that. Back when it just came out, I was planning on comparing JP/EN to one another, but never got around to it. Life's been in the way.
I wouldn't say it's unlikely that many of the assets are the exact same, so unless there are some heavy redesigns to the formats used or wonky code changes to support the English text - I guess it wouldn't be too hard.
I currently don't have the DC version, so I can't really take a look now. When I saw this thread got bumped, I was considering recording some video footage of the game in action, but I can't find the s-video cable for my old Xbox, so it'd have to be via composite if I did... (+I tend to run into anything and everything, so it'd probably be boring to look at) |

Pretty sure he meant hacking the English script into the Japanese DC ISO and then burn that onto a CDR. |

Indeed. I'd HOPE that a mere textswap doesn't cause such a dramatic filesize shift, anyhow. ^^; |

Recently I've been struck by the poison known as motivation, so have a video of something;
Rent-a-Hero no. 1 - V-Jump '99 Presentation
(Dreamcast! Duuuh! Yeah. So not Xbox, but since the Xbox version is just a port of the DC version... I figured it was relevant.) |
