|
|
I am thinking about hacking sunman into a superman sorta my imagining of what the game could have
been if it had been released as a superman game. I change the text, the graphics/sprites, and the title
screen. If anyone wants to offer their opptions and/or help, please feel free to offer it!!!!!!!
P.S. when i first saw the screenshot of the game on the frontpage i thought the dude looked liked the
DareDevil!!!!!

I'm all for Darthtrons project, as long as it doesn't have Sunman sporting a twelve inch hard-on and shooting semen blasts to eliminate his enemies. |

I'd be more interested in your idea than his. |

Yeah really, I can sort of understand the reason behind it, but it seems a bit of a waste. You're going to spend hours upon hours hacking this really nice prototype game to turn into what you think maybe the programmers would have done if it had been a licensed Superman game like it is supposed to be.
Like my last sentence, the whole damn thing's convoluted.
That's my opinion anyway. Feel free to disagree (read: flame my ass) at any time.

It's his time, not mines. He can go mold a statue of Bjork out of ham and pencils for all I care. I just think it wouldn't be such a horible project idea since the game was meant to be a Superman game in the first place, and it being made wouldn't make the world a worst place.
But hey, opinions differ. |

Hi, I'm Macbee and this is my first post here.
DarthTron, looks like we had the same idea... I love to change GFX of NES games and my latest project is a "Sunman to Superman" hack. I posted about it sometime ago on 2 other Message Boards and now people told me about you.
Well, looks like we are going to see two Sunman hacks... To make things less confusing I guess I will rename my hack. It would be called "Superman II", but I guess I will change to "Superman MCB".
By the way, one screenshot:

Thanks Richter and Blackjax!!
I'm kinda proud of Superman's look because you don't see very often a NES action character with eyes and mouth :D
But be warned: Due to NES' color limitations it will be a Black-and-White game, just like the screenshot. And it's a Graphics and text only. I'm just a guy who loves to change GFX - no levels or sound changes, sorry.
Talking about colors, there is another evidence, not listed in the LostLevels article, about "Sunman" being projected as a Superman game: Sunman head use the same colors of his body. So, only one palette for the entire Sunman would be OK.. However, it does'nt happen, there is a palette for his head and another, with the same colors, for his body. It's unnecessary!! But just think for a moment and you will realize that it would fit perfectly for Superman: Black hair and Skin colors in the head palette and the blue, red and yellow colors of his costume in the body palette.
Even with 6 different colors, I couldn't handle the situation very well and the game still is Black-and-White: I have much more freedom to draw and there is a "retro-feel" on it... Looks like a 1940's Superman. :D
Thanks again for your support - and sorry about my English errors!

Suggestion:
change the title screen to read George Reeves as... SUPERMAN
he was the guy in all the old black and white Superman episodes.
see http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0001660/
too bad he commited suicide... |

Ya know, the more I look at that Superman, it even bears a passing resemblance to George Reeves. =] |

As long as Prof. Pepperwinkle is involved, the game will surely rock. |

Not only should you make each level an episode, but you should make each episode into a level. All 104 of them. |
