I don't think it's been mentioned yet, but it seems quite awhile ago, PlanetVB managed to get some official dev disks.
From what I understand, they compiled the source code using two compilers, one from the official devkit and a more-legal fan compiler.
As a result, they have recently released two ROMs presently assumed bad: one that works better in hardware, one that works better in emulators.
I believe they hope to work out the bugs to get a "good" ROM.
I suppose I should check if there's more recent versions of the emus, but from the versions I have: Reality Boy lacks sound, and while Red Dragon has sound, it runs too fast. Both lacked gamepad support.
Now what'll it take to get Dragon Hopper? |

Rich Bannister just updated his Mac VB emulator ViBE specifically to add support for both dumps of Bound High. Both of them are playing really well! The version compiled using the official compiler plays back its music too fast, though.
I guess this is only helpful if you have a Mac. |

Wow, first Bio Force Ape is found, and now this. Just gave the game a try. Its very difficult, though playing it on a keyboard probably doesn't help. Reminds me of the rocket belt segments in Pilotwings somewhat.
Didn't get too far, but on the Planet Virtual Boy thread they mention glitches such as some of the later bosses being invisible. I wish them luck in making a clean version of the rom. |

That's awesome. I used an emulator called VBjin to play it, which seems to play the game great. It also has controller support which made things much easier. Though it doesn't seem to allow you to play in a 2D mode like Red Dragon does.
I finished the adventure mode on easy. The final boss was pretty difficult. I'll have to try normal later. As I was playing the game, I recognized a lot of tunes from Chalvo 55, the (sort of) sequel to this. I had a feeling most of the soundtrack from Chalvo was probably taken from Bound High, nice to see this confirmed.
Its fantastic you guys were able to get this game out there. Huge thanks for the release. Hope Dragon Hopper and Zero Racers might share the same fate someday. |

heres a quick and dirty 2d version of VBJin if someone wants it, it sets the right eye to black, hiding it's rendering, and disables parallax

Last poster's gotta be a spambot. It's a copy of a segment of my original post. |

I thought their signature made it obvious. |
